Enhancing Experience at Tokyo National Museum

The Tokyo National Museum is located in Ueno Park in Tokyo, Japan. It is considered the oldest national museum in Japan and one of the largest art museums in the world. As a group, they felt overwhelmed by the interior design of the museum and that the virtual experience could not replicate being there physically. They observed that the space between exhibits allowed for privacy but the placements sometimes made areas feel empty. To enhance the experience, they proposed shortening distances between seating and exhibits, highlighting select pieces individually, and adding interactive descriptive elements when clicking on works in the virtual museum to make it more like a game.

GROUP EXPERIENCE

- We as a group feel really overwhelmed with the interior design of the Tokyo National Museum.

- We feel that the experience of visiting there physically will never be the same

- The virtual museum of Tokyo National Museum is very well-organized by how they separate the
exhibition so that
people can choose which way to go and what to look at

- We felt like because of the placement, the museum looked empty. It will be better if they find a
solution on how to organize the placement of the collection
PROPOSAL ON HOW CAN THE EXPERIENCE BE ENHANCED

The part that we think can be enhanced in the museum is to shorten the distance between the chair and cabinet
exhibition place, this can let the passenger to look clearly and at the details of the painting, sculpture or whatever.

We think the painting and sculpture that can be put individually inside a cabinet. We think one or two is enough for
each room, this can attract the passenger to guess what are the special things that are waiting for them.
For the virtual museum we think that the designer can enhance the description part by popping out a description
board of the painting and sculpture when the audience clicks at them, this can make them feel impressed and feel fresh at it
The way this virtual museum works can be more interesting if they make it like a game
