Lesson Plan in Science 5

This lesson plan is for a multigrade teaching class on electric circuits. The lesson plan outlines the objectives, content, learning resources, procedures and activities for the class. The procedures involve reviewing electric circuits, presenting examples of series and parallel circuits, discussing concepts and having students practice identifying circuit components and types. Students will develop mastery by making and presenting circuit models. The lesson aims to teach students the essential parts of and difference between series and parallel electric circuits.

LESSON PLAN IN MULTIGRADE TEACHING

Name: Paula Mae B. Rubio BEED 3A

Instructor: Ms. Rheamy Baliber
I. Objectives
A. Content of Standards
The learners demonstrate understanding of a simple DC Circuit and the
relationship between electricity and magnetism in electromagnets
B. Performance Standards
The learners should be able to propose an unusual tool using
electromagnets that is useful for home, school, and community.
C. Learning Competencies
The learners should be able to determine the effects of changing the
number or type of components in a circuit.

Specific Learning Outcomes

At the end of the activity the students are expected to do the following with
75% accuracy:
a. define electric circuit and recognize the two types of electric circuit.
b. value the importance of each types of electric circuit
c. draw and label the parts of electric circuit

II. Content: Electric Circuit

III. Learning Resources:

A. The New Science Links Work Book in Science and Technology5
B. access in the internet (www.slidesharecircuit.com)

IV. Procedure
Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

A. Reviewing Previous Literature

Okay class let's have a review about our lesson

last meeting

What was our last lesson? Ma'am it's all about electricity!

What are the source of electricity? A source of electricity which formed

from natural matter such as oil and
natural gas.
Very Good!
Now we already know where did the electricity
came from, but the question is, how it is
distributed to every consumer?

B. Establishing a Purpose for a Lesson

The class will play "Family Apir with a twist", the

class will be divided into two groups with 7
members. Each group will play popping balloon
while other team member is sitting. A member
will found corresponding to each questions.
They will answer it by arranging the scrambled
letters on the board.

Question that will be answered:

1. It is a positivity charge particle

(ORNOTP)

2. It is a negativity charge particle PROTON

(CELENORT)

3. It is neutral particle or has no charge ELECTRON

(RTUENON)

4. Provide the electrical pressure in the circuit NEUTRON

(OUSREC)

5. There are no branches of circuit

(ESIRES) SOURCE

6. They have branches in a circuit

(LLELARAP) SERIES

7. A complete path where electricity flows from

the source to the lead. PARALLEL
(LECTRICE TIUCRIC)

All of them are correct!

ELECTRIC CIRCUIT

C. Presenting Examples/ Instance for the

Lesson

Class just look at the picture?

What do you see in the picture?

How about this picture? There's a light bulb , a battery and
a wire!

D. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing

New Skills

So, for today's lesson, do you have any idea

what is our topic all about?
How can it be related in the picture in the board?
Any ideas?

Okay Very Good!

Ma'am, I think our lesson for
Today, we are going to talk about Electric today is all about Electric Circuit
Circuit.

What is Electric Circuit?

Electric Circuit is a complete path where

electricity flows from the source to the load.

It also contains components like batteries,

switches, bulbs, resistors and capacitors
connected in a continuous loop.
Electric Circuit is a complete path
The class will divided into two groups. each where electricity flows from the
groups will perform the following activities. source to the load.

Ok class, this activity called "CORRECT ME"

you are going to correct the parts of electric
circuit and parts it on the board.

Are you ready class

YES MA'AM!

Very good!

This is the parts of the Electric Circuit. Those

parts are batteries or source, light bulb or load,
switch and the wire or path.

An Electric Circuit there are two types. The

Series circuit and the Parallel circuit.

So class, I have here another picture and I want

you to identify what is series and parallel circuit.

Is this a Series Circuit? Why?

Yes ma'am because it has one

Is this a Parallel Circuit? Why
switch that controls the flow of
electric circuit.

Very good class!

Unlike series circuit, if one load in a parallel
circuit does not work, the other load in a parallel
circuit will still work. This is the reason why
electricity will not be able to flow to the other
loads.

E. Developing Mastery

Class did you understand our lesson for today?

For the other fun activity, I want you to make a Yes ma'am because each sets of
model and present in class. bulb has a specific wire and a
switch that are interconnected to a
Are you ready? switch and a load in a parallel
circuit.

(Model of series and parallel circuit)

Are you done? okay, present it in the class. I

want 2 students to present their work

Okay very good!...

F. Finding Practical Application of Concepts

and Skills in Daily Living

Class, I have a picture of Series circuit

Yes ma'am!
Okay ma'am!

In a series circuit, if one bulb is broken or a

component is disconnected, what do you think
will happen?

Okay very good!

The circuit will broke and all the

components will stop working

In a parallel circuit, If a bulb breaks or the

component is disconnected, do you think it will
still work and have an electric circuit? why do
you think so?

Very well said!

G. Making Generalization and Instruction

about the Lesson

Based on what we had done to our activities, The circuit will still work, because
what have you learn? the components on different or wire
keeps on working, the bulb will still
work if you add more in parallel
What are those?

We learned the essential parts of

What else have you learned from our lesson. electric circuit

Very good students, it seem like you really listen Source

and understand our discussion. Light bulbs
Load
Switch
Wire

We also learned the difference

between series and parallel and hoe
does it works.

H. Evaluating Learning

A. Multiple Choice
Direction: Choose the correct letter of the following questions.

1. It is used to "turn on and off the load"

c. series
d. load
2. the pathway of electricity from the source to the load
a. switch
b. load
c. path or wire
d. parallel circuit
3. Provide the electrical pressure in the circuit.
a. load
b. source

d. circuit
4. It has one switch that controls m the flow of the electric circuit
a. series circuit
b. parallel circuit
c. circuit
d. electricity
5. There are two or more switches
a. series circuit
b. parallel circuit
c. circuit
d. Electric circuit

B. ESSAY
In 20 sentences, write or value the importance of electric circuit in your school,
home and community

C. Draw and label the essential parts of electric circuit

I. Assignment
