GOTONG ROYONG AND SOCIAL SERVICES IN THE REGIONAL
MOSQUE ___ DISTRICTS ___  LANDASAN ULIN TIMUR  ___  
GARUDA STREET

 
 
 PRELIMINARY

A. Background

  Cooperation that is carried out together is referred to as gotong-royong,

eventually becoming a strategy in a pattern of living together that lightens the burden

of each other's work. The existence of this kind of cooperation is a proof of the

existence of harmony between people for the community, especially those who still

respect and carry out the values of life, which are usually carried out by rural

communities or traditional communities. However, this does not rule out the

possibility that urban communities also need a spirit of gotong royong in some cases.

  Gotong royong as a form of social solidarity, is formed because of the

assistance of other parties, for personal or group interests, so that in it there is a loyal

attitude from every citizen as a unit. In this case, Parson (1951: 97 – 98) suggests that

mutual cooperation activities are carried out by community members, both in rural and

urban areas, the important thing is that they always need other people in their lives. In

urban areas, the value of gotong royong is very different from that in rural areas,

because in urban areas everything has been heavily influenced by materials and the

wage system, so the pros and cons of doing gotong royong will be calculated, while in

rural areas there is not much mutual cooperation. influenced by the material and the

B. Formulation of the problem

 In the implementation of cleaning activities in this mosque is by mutual

cooperation and social service between communities.

C. Situation Analysis

Based on the results of a direct examination with the village head and youth

leader on April 05, 2021, it turned out that mutual cooperation was needed to create a

sense of cooperation and a clean environment. It is related because the mosque is used

so that mutual cooperation is held to create comfort for the congregation who worship

at the H.Miskin mosque.

Based on the description above, the Ramadan and Eid preparation committee

team is interested in doing mutual cooperation at the H.Miskin Landasan Ulin Timur

mosque voluntarily with other community members.

D. Activity Purpose

 The general objective of this community service activity is to increase

cooperation and create a clean environment. 

 

E. Activity Benefits

 The expected benefits of this community service are:

1. Benefits for target group

Able to create a sense of cooperation.

2. Benefits for dedication

 Creating a sense of cooperation

 3. Benefits for PPL and KKN students around the village

As input for students, especially in the development of community service, it is

necessary to consider activities related to mutual cooperation issues.

F. Target

 The target of this community service activity is the community in Garuda

Street, Landasan Ulin Timur. The implementation of this community service activity

 GOTONG ROYONG IN THE HOUSE OF WORSHIP ENVIRONMENT

Community members will one day have activities that require assistance from

other residents, namely organizing circumcisions, marriages or in the construction of

their homes.

Mutual assistance in the form of mutual assistance is not necessary in times of

joy, but in times of distress, such as death or calamities, such as fires, landslides,

floods and other disasters caused by nature. Assistance will come from other residents

who are not affected by the disaster, even from other people who are far away and

unknown to someone who helps. It's just that the help given does not need a sense of

service or kindness that must be reciprocated, but a solidarity between others as a

sense of humanity, as well as those who are helped do not need to have a sense of

indebtedness and have a moral obligation to repay it. Assistance given to residents or

people who experience calamities is an obligation that must be shared and must be

maintained for all time and without any request from residents who experience the

disaster. Thus, that helping people in the face of disasters is considered an obligation

as a human being to help between people without any sense of self-worth from the

A. Activity Method Used

 Related to the purpose of this community service, namely to create solidarity

and public awareness in doing mutual cooperation and creating a clean environment.

B. Partner Engagement

  This community service can be done because the mosque is used so that

mutual cooperation is held to create comfort for the congregation who worship at the

H.Miskin mosque.

ACTIVITY RESULTS

A. Activity Results

This gotong royong activity was carried out on April 10, 2021. This activity

started at 08.00 WITA until it was finished with the attendance of 30 participants.   

1. Implementation

The implementation of this gotong royong activity is divided into 3 stages, namely:

1. Preparation phase

a. preparation of gotong royong materials, the presenters include the preparation

of floor cleaners, brooms, mops, broom sticks, hoes and others needed by

implementing members and participating residents to take part in gotong

royong.
b. Collaborate with mosque administrators and the surrounding community

regarding the use of space and time and to announce planned activities

c. Confirming the venue, time of activity and announcing the event.

d. Announce the implementation of activities.

2. Implementation stage

a. The event was held at the H. Miskin mosque in Garuda Street, Landasan Ulin

Timur which started at 08.00 WITA

 b. Participants participate enthusiastically

c. All students are involved in activities and have played a role in accordance

with their respective roles and functions

3. Evaluation

a. Structure Evaluation

All Garuda Street community service students. The participation and

assignments of students can be carried out properly according to what has been

planned.

b. Process Evaluation

There are 30 participants in total . The implementation of gotong royong

activities went as expected where the participants were enthusiastic to do

mutual cooperation. 

c. Result Evaluation

More than 75% of the participants who attended were enthusiastic to do mutual

cooperation. This proves that the participants were present in the

implementation of gotong royong activities.

B. Resistance

There were no significant obstacles during the implementation of gotong

royong except in gathering participants whose conditions were sometimes

unpredictable.
 

C. External Target
 The result of this implementation will be in the form of comfort and cleanliness

in the mosque.
 
 

CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

A. Conclusion

From the discussion of the results of the activities above, it can be concluded

that the Community Service activity, entitled gotong royong activities at the H. Poor

Landasan Ulin timur mosque in 2021, was quite successful although in its

implementation there were still some obstacles.

B.   Suggestion

In order to support the success of the activities in the future and the benefits

that have been carried out, there are several things that must be considered: such as

how important cooperation is.
