Installation Guide of the BCD10 board – r0c

1 - DEVICE DESCRIPTION

The BCD10 board allows third party displays or speech synthesizers to be connected to
an HIDRA installation.

If you want to incorporate in a HIDRASystem controller a display or speech synthesizer,

it requires a decoder to transform the HIDRA data into a signal that controls such
displays and / or synthesizers.

BCD10 board converts the information from the HIDRA bus to potential-free signals,
which can generate the floor information in the most common formats.

BCD10 board also has a special signals connector like pre-direction arrows, out of
service, inspection... and three general purpose opto-isolated signals.

1.1 MAIN FEATURES

- Microswitch to program the board address, with the same operation as DMR or
VSR.
- Data reception LED indicator.
- Elevator position output with codes (selectable by DIP switch):
o Binary (5 bits)
o Gray (5 bits)
o BCD (Units, Tens, sign)
o Floor to floor (-3 to +12)
- Special signals connector (with positive or negative common)
o Arrows (Up, Down)
o Inspection
o Out of service
o Overload
o Opening and closing doors
o Doors blocked
o Strobe signal to launch messages in the voice synthesizers
- 24V output for display or synthesizer supply from the board.
- Three general purpose outputs controlled by opto-coupled inputs (3 outputs)
- Expansion connector for installations with more than 16 floors.

2.2 OUTPUT BCD + BINARY CODE

To operate in this mode, the DIP switch SW2 must be configured with the switches 1, 2 &
3 in OFF position.
Pins 1 to 9 of the CN1 connector are used for the BCD code.
Pins 12 to 16 of the CN1 connector are used for the binary code.

BCD code is implemented with units, tens and sign.

- Pin 1 of CN1 is the Units Least Significant Bit
- Pin 4 of CN1 is the Units Most Significant Bit
- Pin 5 of CN1 is the Tens Least Significant Bit
- Pin 8 of CN1 is the Tens Most Significant Bit
- Pin 9 of CN1 is the sign information (0 - Positive, 1 - Negative)

The Binary code is implemented in natural binary. Binary value 0 belongs to symbol 0 of
the symbol table DMR135. Binary value 1 belongs to symbol 1, etc.

2.3 OUTPUTS FLOOR TO FLOOR

To operate in this mode, the DIP switch SW2 must be configured with the switch 1 in ON
position, and switches 2 & 3 in OFF position.

In this mode, the pin of the CN1 corresponding to the position of the elevator is
activated.
Pin 1 of CN1 belongs to symbol -3 of the DMR135 table, pin 2 belongs to symbol -2, ... ,
pin 16 belongs to symbol 12 of the DMR135 table.

2.4 OUTPUT BCD + GRAY CODE

To operate in this mode, the DIP switch SW2 must be configured with the switch 2 in ON
position, and switches 1 & 3 in OFF position.
Pins 1 to 9 of the CN1 connector are used for the BCD code.
Pins 12 to 16 of the CN1 connector are used for the Gray code.

Gray code is implemented in 5 bits mode. Gray value 0 belongs to symbol 0 of the
DMR135 symbol table. Gray value 1 belongs to symbol 1, etc.

2.5 SPECIAL SIGNALS CONNECTOR

CN2 connector has the special signals output.

- Out of Service*: Elevator out of order.
- Inspection*: Elevator in inspection mode.
- Pre-direction arrows: They show the direction or pre-direction of the elevator.
- Overload.
- Opening & closing doors.
- Doors blocked.
- Strobe: signal used to launch a voice message in the synthesizer. The signal is a
300ms pulse.
- Common: It must be connected to the common pin of the display. The signal
could be positive (12 ~ 24), or ground.
- +24V: 24V Supply. Max. current 1,5A
- GPO: General purpose outputs. Opto-coupled inputs active these outputs.
* When the board receives a message "Out of Service" or "Inspection", the floor
information signals (CN1) are disabled. Then, the information of the position of the
elevator is not available.

2.6 GENERAL PURPOSE INPUTS

The board has three general purpose inputs which allow to control three outputs adapted
to the display / voice synthesizer signals.

These three inputs are connected to a three optocouplers. All the inputs have the same
common pin and their input voltage range is from 8 to 24VDC, in both polarities (Positive
or negative common)

2.7 CONFIGURATIONS

- Address configuration:
DIP switch SW1 allows to program the board address in the HIDRA System:
• Switch 1 is the Most Significant Bit and it belongs to a decimal value
of 16.
• Switch 2 belongs to a decimal value of 8.
• Switch 3 belongs to a decimal value of 4.
• Switch 4 belongs to a decimal value of 2.
• Switch 5 is the Least Significant Bit and it belongs to a decimal
value of 1.
Look at the personalised modules table to program the right module address,
using the indication DMR or VSR, depending if the use of the board is for display
or synthesizer, respectively.

- Operation Mode Configuration:

DIP switch SW2 allows to select the operation mode of the board.
Operation Modes of Switch1:
OFF Output Codification of CN1 – BCD + Binary or Gray (See Switch2)
ON Output Codification of CN1 - Floor to Floor

Operation Modes of Switch2 (if Switch 1 – OFF):

OFF Output Codification of CN1 – BCD + Binary
ON Output Codification of CN1 – BCD + Gray

Operation Modes of Switch3 (Only for Voice Units):

OFF STROBE Signal for all symbols received
ON STROBE Signal only for position announcement symbols

2.8 EXPANSION CONNECTOR

The board can manage 16 floors in "floor to floor" mode. In an installation with more
than 16 floors, an expansion board is needed. This board controls 16 floors more.

In this situation, the expansion board is connected in the expansion connector. During
the set up of the BCD10 board, the expansion is recognized automatically and it will run
with all the floors available.

2) Wrong address Check that the address

configured at SW1 is the
same than the address
programmed in the
database.
Board receives data (DL1 1) Wrong polarity Check the polarity of the
blinks) but nothing display common.
happens at the display.
2) Wrong configuration Check that the
configuration of the SW2
belongs to the display
codification

3) There is not common Check the right connection

signal of the display common at
the pin 10 of the CN2.

The general purpose Wrong connection Check the right connexion

outputs do not work of the input common at
properly pin4 of B4.
Display does not show any Wrong symbol Check in the HIDRA menu
symbol, or the synthesizer that the symbol selected
does not reproduce any for that floor, is a symbol
message. accepted by the board
