The Problem and its Background

Challenges is something that you feel determined to solve or achieve.

Challenges is something that puts you to the test. Challenges is to deal

successfully with difficult situation or problem. Challenges are closely combined

with difficulties or obstacles. Challenges give you experience this is one of many

ways of becoming smarter. The knowledge you gain gives you ability to make less

mistakes, get better result and achieve your goals. This quantitative study aimed

to better understand the challenges faced by Senior High School (SHS)

Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) students and their journey of

learning real life business problems.

According to Leo Carver (2016) ‘’life is full of challenges. Some people seem to

meet every challenge with confidence, while others struggle to overcome them

and challenge can become problems that can spiral you into despair and

frustration.’’ Challenges seem hard to you while others breeze right through the
same situation. There’s a reason why you put off a task for weeks can be done

several times a day by someone else. According to LamHiu-sze (2015) challenges

comes in many form. For some, the challenge is doing well at school for others it

is getting to grips with financial worries. Students experienced a lot challenges, to

sleep late at night because there are things need to be passed.

The ABM strand and its most fundamental sense refers to the accountancy,

business, and management academic programs that concentrate on the

foundational concepts in corporate operations, financial management, business

management, as well as each and every factor that revolves around those central

fields. Those students who plans to take up business courses and accountancy.

This track is perfect for those who want to start a business.

The main reason of this study is to explore the common academic challenges

facing by ABM students. Finding a way of how this problem be manage will be a

big help for the students who encountered challenges.


Statement of the Problem

The main objectives of this study is to determine the challenges encountered

by the Grade 12 ABM students in taking up their chosen strand.

It specifically, sought answers to the following questions:

1. What are the personal profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1. Age

1.2. Gender

1.3.Time management

2. What are the struggles encountered by the ABM students in taking up their

strand?

3. Will ABM strand help the students in their future lives in college?

Scope and Delimitation

This study is aimed to identify the challenges encountered by the grade 12 ABM

students in taking up their chosen strand.


The conducted study focused only on the grade 12 ABM at Daguit National

High School during the academic year 2021-2022 and the researcher gathered

data from 12 of them as respondents of the study.

Significance of the study

The result of this study may be beneficial to ABM students, future ABM

students, accountancy teacher, and future researchers.

ABM students. The result of this study would valuable to ABM students so that

they may be aware of the solutions in their facing challenges

Future ABM students. The result of this study may provide information of what

is the challenges facing by the ABM students in taking their strand.

Accountancy teacher. The result of this study may provide awareness of the

perspective of the challenges encountered by grade 12 taking ABM strand.

Future researchers. This study may also draw interest from other researchers

who intent to conduct more investigation about the challenges encountered by

grade 12 students in taking ABM strand

RELATED TO THEIR CHOSEN STRAND FOR SY. 2021-2022’’ as one of the requirements in our
subject practical research II.
