Industry
Objectives:

At the end of the exercise, the students should be able to:

 Analyze the impacts of technology the on healthcare services industry.

Materials:

 One (1) personal computer with a pre-installed Microsoft Word and Google Chrome
 Internet connection

Instructions:
1. Create a new document at Microsoft Word with the filename 07TP_LastName_FirstName. This will serve as
your answer sheet and will be collected by your instructor. (ex. 07TP_DelaCruz_Juan)

2. Launch Google Chrome in your computer and access the official website of Athenahealth using the link
https://www.athenahealth.com/healthcare-technology/electronic-health-records- software?
cmp=10282434.

3. Go to Services. List down all the possible ERP system modules that you can find in their website. (5 items x
2 points)

4. Read through the services and feature that athenahealth can offer. Then, provide three (3) features or
characteristics per module based on the athenahealth website. (15 items x 1 point)

5. Under the Services tab, you will find Epocrates. Read through the details about Epocrates and define
Epocrates using your own words. One sentence will do. You can use the internet to search for more reference.
Make sure to create a list of your reference at the later part of your answer sheet. (5 points for the definition)

6. After exploring athenahealth, go to the official website of AdvancedMD using the link
https://www.azaleahealth.com/azalea-ehr-for-health-systems-2/.

7. Look for the Solutions tab. Then, go to Practice Management > Medical Billing Software. A new page
will be displayed. Read through the content of the page and click on each feature for more details.

8. Write a summary of the Medical Billing Software solution offered by AdvancedMD in at least 10 sentences.
Explain the content of the solution in your own words. (15 points)

9. Go back to the Solutions tab. Then, go to HER Software > Electronic Prescribing. A new page will be
displayed. Read through the content of the page and click on some of the features for more details.

11. After exploring the two (2) ERP solutions providers for healthcare services, answer the following
question:
 Based on the information that you have gathered, what do you think is the greatest impact of these
technological advances to the healthcare industry? Why? (15 points)
