Globalization

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb.

First of all, let's pray and thank unto our god Allah SWT, the lord of this world
who has been giving us mercies and blessings that we cannot count so we can attend
and gather in this unforgettable place in good condition and happy situation.

Secondly, may sholawat and salam always be with our best prophet Muhammad
SAW, who has guided us to know and do the right thing to live in this world namely
Islam, the religion which guides mercy to all worlds.

Thirdly, i’d like to say “thank you very much” to the master of ceremony for
giving me time to deliver a speech.

Ladies and gentlemen...

Today I will be giving a speech about globalization. Do you know what is

globalization? Well... Globalization is the process of interaction and integration
among people, companies, and governments worldwide. Globalization has accelerated
since the 18th century due to advances in transportation and communication
technology.

So...Globalization is basically something that cannot be avoided.  Advanced

technology makes this process run very easy, without obstacles. The impact of
globalization can be felt in many areas, such as economy, culture and education.
Globalization also have a positive and negative effects.

Okay... lets talk about the benefits of the globalization or the positive effects first.
First, we can get so many information from various sources. In the past if we want to
get information about something, we had to go to the library. Also, if we wanted to
get the latest news we had to buy a newspaper. but now it has become very easy,
because we can get information from the internet or from our cellphone.

Second, The development of information and communication technology has

brought about major changes in the way we communicate. In the past, if you wanted
to communicate you had to send a letter first, and now it is very easy and fast to
communicate by using a cellphone.

Apart from the positive impacts that we get from globalization, there are also
negative impacts. First, decreased moral quality of students. Information on the
internet that can be accessed freely can be harmful to students, for example,
prohibited websites that contain inappropriate videos or photos. This bad contents can
affect students either directly or indirectly.

Second, the impacts of globalization on teenagers. We can get negative impacts

of globalization from cellphone, movies, TV, and so on. many people follow the
culture from it, for example, dating. Dating is haram in Islam, we as teenagers must
also respond well and not be affected by the negative impacts of globalization.
There is evidence from the Qur'an in Surah Al-Isra verse 32 :"And do not
approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a
way.". In that surah Allah says, prohibits His servants from committing Zina or
approaching it or doing anything that leads to it.

Ladies and gentlemen...

Globalization might bring something contradictory to our culture, but I think it is

us who have control over it. Globalization won’t change our identity if we don’t allow
it to, but we can definitely use the benefit of globalization for our own interest.

I think that’s all from me, thank you for your attention.
Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
