Continuous and Repeating Patterns Group13

The document defines and discusses repeating and continuous patterns. It explains that repeating patterns repeat according to a rule, and have terms and a core. Terms are the objects that form the pattern, and the core repeats. Continuous patterns involve increasing elements, and have terms and a rule. The rule describes how the pattern increases in a fixed order. Examples of both repeating and continuous patterns are provided to illustrate these concepts.

Objectives

a. define the continuous and repeating patterns;

b. identify the parts of repeating and continuous patterns; and
c. complete and give the missing terms of the repeating and
continuous patterns

What is PATTERN?

Pattern is a set of numbers or objects arrange in a sequence such that they are related to each other in a
specific rule. Pattern is a sequence of a certain order.

TWO TYPES OF PATTERNS

Repeating Patterns
Continuous Patterns

REPEATING PATTERNS

Patterns that repeat themselves over and over again according to a certain rule.

EXAMPLE

😤😤😊😤😤😊😤😤

TWO PARTS OF REPEATING PATTERNS

Term
Core

TERM

are the objects or elements that form a pattern.

Example: 😤😤😊😤😤😊😤😤

TERM 😤😊
CORE
is a part if repeating pattern that stays the same and repeats itself.
Example: 😤😤😊😤😤😊😤😤
Core 😤😊😤

CONTINOUS PATTERNS
Patterns in which one or more objects/elements of the sequence or arrangement increases.
EXAMPLE
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18
TWO PARTS OF CONTINOUS PATTERNS
Term
Rule
TERM
Each part of a continuous pattern
Example:
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18
Term: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18

RULE
the fixed order in which a continuous pattern increase
Example: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18
Rule: +3
