JSC The Ural Turbine Works
JSC The Ural Turbine Works
Ural Turbine Works (ROTEC Holding, the Renova Group) was set up as successor of turbine manufacturing Turbomotor plant and is still carrying
on its glorious traditions. Turbines have been manufactured here since 1938. For eight decades, the plant’s team has created a number of unique
machines that have become the pride of Russian power engineering: the most powerful series cogeneration turbine T-295, the most common in the
former Soviet Union – turbine T-100, gas pumping units for Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod route, various models of turbines for combined cycle and
others. More than half (in terms of power) of cogeneration turbine units being operated in the CIS countries are produced by Ural turbine engineers.
Moreover, turbines produced by TMW are installed in Eastern Europe, Italy, Egypt, Mongolia, China, Korea, India and Japan. Nowadays, the plant
exports its products to Kazakhstan, Belarus, Mongolia and Serbia.
Today, Ural Turbine Works develops and produces steam cogeneration turbines of medium and high capacity; condensing turbines; combined-
cycle plants; backpressure steam turbines; exhaust steam turbines; ship turbines, as well as providing services for maintenance and modernization
of energy equipment. Many years of experience in designing turbines, commercial production of a wide range of machines allow UTW to meet the
needs of each customer. When creating new and improving manufactured turbines, current trends of energy, gas industry development are taken into
account. However, despite the diversity of models produced, the plant uses well-tested fundamental solutions, standard design units and compo-
nents which provides sufficient batch production, improves reliability and makes the turbines easier to operate and repair.
Since 2006, UTW equips its turbines with new electro-hydraulic control and protection system (EHCPS), electric part of them holds modern
microprocessor controllers. The plant's products meet the highest standards: quality management system complies with ISO 9001:2015 and is
confirmed by the British Standards Institution (BSI) annually. Technological and institutional standards, competence of the plant’s personnel,
production and products (services) safety meet the requirements of «EnSERTIKO» voluntary certification system. UTW has a certificate of conformity
of the Customs Union that ensures the quality of the products to comply with all standards of TR TS 010/2011 technical regulations. UTW has licenses
of Nuclear Supervision of the Russian Federation for design and manufacture of equipment for nuclear power units installed at nuclear power plants,
ships and boats with nuclear reactors. The plant’s laboratories have undergone technical competence check in accordance with the requirements of
the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. UTW is implementing an extensive investment program, which envisages radical renewal of production.

SERIES OF TURBINES ПТ-140/165-130/15
The series consists of the base turbine ПТ-140/165-130/15-2М* and

130/9-4 and ПТ-140/165-130/15-5. The turbines of this series are
installed at big industrial heating power stations working under large
process steam extraction load. The base turbine is outfitted with
exhaust blades 830 mm long and is designed for the cooling water
temperature of 20°С. The turbines indexed «3», «4» and «5» have
exhaust rotor blades 660 mm long, and their design cooling water
temperature is 27 °С. The turbine indexed «4» differs from the other two
turbines in the nominal pressure of the process steam extraction, which
equals 9 kgf/cm2 instead of 15 kgf/cm2. Therefore this turbine has a
different number of HPC and LPC stages. All the turbines are provided
with two heating steam extractions. A regulating diaphragm is installed
downstream each extraction, except for the turbine indexed «5». The
turbine indexed «5» is fitted with a single regulating diagram, which is
installed downstream the lower heating steam extraction. In case of
one- or two-stage heating of the heating-system water, the extraction
pressure is adjusted using one regulating diaphragm of the lower
extraction. If extraction serves other auxiliary power, the extraction
pressures can be separately controlled by both regulating diaphragms. provided. The pressure is maintained downstream the control valve in the

have been designed. They have single-cylinder design and the single-
stage heating of heating-system water. The pressure of heating and
process steam extractions is maintained by revolving regulating
diaphragms.
The turbine ПТ-30/35-90/10 can be installed on the existing foun-
dation to replace service life-expired turbines ВПТ-25-4 and ВПТ-25-3.

STEAM TURBINES FOR COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANTS
Currently, issues concerning development of modern equipment
operating as part of combined-cycle power plants (CCPPs) are be-
coming more and more vital. Providing succession of UTW steam
turbine manufacture design solutions, the company has worked over
CCPP version with capacity 95 – 450 MW. The standard CCPP includes
one or two gas turbines, one or two waste-heat boilers and one steam
turbine with the appropriate number of generators.
For CCPPs with capacity of 90…115 MW, UTW offers single-shaft
co-generation steam turbine Т-40/50-8,8.
For two-circuit CCPPs with capacity of 170...230 MW, co-generation
steam turbines Т-53/67-8,0, Т-63/76-8,8 and Kт-63-7,7 (see the Table
below) are recommended. On the basis of this turbine, the plant can also
manufacture condensing turbines with capacity of 60…70 MW.
For three-circuit CCPPs with resuperheating and capacity of 400…450
MW, UTW offers co-generation steam turbine Т-113/145-2,4 (see the
Table below), which, with its design preserved, but depending on different
steam parameters, may also bear designations from Т-100/130-12,0 to
Т-125/150-12,6. On the basis of this turbine, the plant can also manufac-
ture condensing turbines with capacity of 130…150 MW.

THE SERIES OF TURBINE K-150-7.6 FOR CCPP
The series consists of the base turbine К-150-7,6 and its two
modified versions: К-160-7,6 and К-170-7,6. The turbines of this series
are intended for newly constructed or extended power stations serving
large or medium-size cities.
К-150-7,6 turbine series is designed for operation as part of a
combined cycle power plant with a total capacity from 350 to 520 MW,
depending on the types and modifications of its main equipment (gas
turbines and heat-recovery steam generator – HRSG) and can reach a
maximum electrical output of 170 MW.

BOTTOM TURBINES
For its customers the Ural Turbine Works also offers bottom type
turbines, which are operated from heating and process steam extraction
headers of turbine types ПР, ПТР, TР, P, ПТ, П and T, when they are not
loaded to its purpose. Steam extraction for heating is possible on the
turbines operated from the process header. Incomplete loading of
heating extraction can occur in spring-autumn period; during summer,
the loading can be zero. Process steam extraction may be reduced or
zero, when the number of process steam consumers is limited. Absence
of steam consumption from the exhaust of turbine type P leads to its
complete shutdown. Decrease of process steam extraction from turbine
types П, Т and P reduces the power capacity of the turbo-generator set.
In these cases installation of exhaust-steam turbines allows complete
loading of the existing turbines and provides their operation at the most
efficient design conditions. Besides, the electric power output of power
plants increases due to installation of new turbines with comparatively
low capital inputs, as installation of new power-generating boilers is not
required.

MODERNIZATION OF THE INSTALLED STEAM TURBINES
The UTW has developed modernization packages for the entire model range of turbines. Among them are such models as Т-250, Т-185, Т-100,
Т-50, ПТ-135, ПТ-50, ПТ-25-3(4), Р-100. The modernization packages allow extending service life of the turbines by 200 ths. hours.
