Teachers: Subject:

Jacob White 8th Grade Social Studies

AZ State Standards:

● HS.H3.2 Analyze how ideologies, religion, and belief systems have influenced economic, political, and social
institutions over time.
● HS.C1.4 Analyze the evolution of civic virtues, democratic principles, constitutional rights, and human rights.

Learning Objective:

● Student will be able to identify and explain the importance of ancient Greece on the modern world using a
graphic organizer.

● Student will be able to explain at least 3 different characteristics of ancient Greek life in their exit ticket.

● Student will be able to make at least one connection between ancient Greece and one other content area they
have a course in.

Evidence of Mastery (Measurable):

◻ How will you assess if your student achieved mastery of the lesson objective?

◻ Determine the type of demonstration/activity the student will use to demonstrate mastery of the objective.

◻ What is the condition and degree, the setting or situation in which the student will be able to express the depth and extent of
learning?

◻ What is an exemplar student response with the level of detail you expect to see?

Students will show mastery through completion of the graphic organizer and exit ticket. The graphic organizer will
show their ability to identify the similarities between ancient Greece and the modern day. They must structure their
findings, clearly representing the modern-day idea/activity that correlates with an ancient Greek one. Each
student’s graphic organizer must contain at least 5 different examples, with 1 relating to a different content area.
Examples can be written or drawn out. Students will also complete a paragraph exit ticket detailing what they
believe to be the most lasting impact from ancient Greece and why. Students will be graded on their ability to relate
past events and societies to our current ones.
