1.0 Introduction:
Nile drill tech was established in the year 2010 with a major purpose of providing good, qualitative
and sustainable water. Nile Drill Tech is the major sponsor and development partner of Nirek Nile
Foundation, an NGO dedicated to the provision of portable water to less privileged.
2.0 DRILLING EQUIPMENT
We use good and qualitative material to ensure your borehole is drilled successfully.
We drill in both basement and sedimentary terrain (Air and Mud drilling).
The diameter of our boreholes range from 61/2 inch to 8 inch in basement terrain with
maximum depth of 350 meter and 200 meters.
Thickness of casing we used ranged from 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm, 5.7mm and 6.7mm etc.
The points mentioned above are used to calculate the cost of drilling with its installation of the borehole.

3.0 Geology and Hydrogeology
The geology of the site is made up of Basement Complex rocks which consist essentially of Granite-Gneiss
and Migmatite rocks overlain with laterites. The target aquifers in the basement complex are the weathered and
the fractured basement. However, potable water in this area could be seldom gotten from the loosed part of the
terrain (overburden), the weathered basement, but majorly from the fractures/fissures in rocks.
4.0 Methodology
A reconnaissance of the geologic setting of the terrian is the primary survey carried out by the close
observation of the rock exposures in the terain. The approach of data collection and questionairing is deployed
to understand the background hydrogeologic history of the area. The geophysical survey which is the process
of acquiring data on the site in view is being carried out by the approach of Electrical Resistivity Method using
the Ohmega Booster Resistivity meter. The procedure followed uses the Schlumberger configuration. The data
collected on site is processed and interpreted using the IpI2Win software. The data are presented in the graphs
in the below section. We do our best to address the technical challenges during the geophysical survey such as;
Space constraints
Very hard or Loose soil
Buried cables or pipes, the plan or design of the area to be surveyed.

5.1 INTERPRETATION: Base on the geology of the area it inferred to have a thick overburden of 20-25
meters. The target aquifers which are the Weathered/fractured rocks are seen from the depths of 30m-100m

5.3 Recommendation:
DESIGN: The Borehole should be FULLY CASED. The hole should be well gravel packed and where
necessary it should be grouted.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
From qualitative and quantitative analysis, four geo-electric layers are identified. The layers identified
include (but are not restricted to) the first layer which indicates the top soil, the second layer which
indicates the weathered basement (comprising of clay/mica), the third layer represent the highly
weathered/ fractured basement (water bearing section) and finally the fourth layer represents the fresh
basement.
VES 1 is recommended for drilling.
As seen from the failed borehole on this plot, it is clear that this area is difficult in terms of getting
water. The main limitation of any geophysical investigation is that it doesn’t show the object of
interest (such as water, hydrocarbon or any mineral deposit) directly. Thus, there is no geophysical
investigation technique that completely shows the occurrence of the target resource. One of the
essence of a hydro-geophysical investigation is to minimize financial losses associated with drilling
blindly.
NOTE: On your plot, we located a spot with geological anomalies that may be as a result of
groundwater or the mineral constituents of the rock. This makes it difficult to give you 100%
guarantee whether you will get water but we are inferring a 70% success chance.
