Lesson Plan in Changes of Matter

(Chemistry)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
A. Discuss the difference between physical and chemical change;
B. Appreciate the importance of the knowledge on physical and chemical change in our
life through citing its applications in our community; and
C. Write at least 3 examples of chemical and physical changes of matter.
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
A. Topic: Changes of matter
B. Materials and References:
*Candle, Matchstick, Paper, Pentel pen, Manila paper
*Visual Aids - Graphic Organizers

C. Science Concepts:

Physical Change- is a change occurs which occurs in size, shape color, texture, state,
magnetic or electrical condition but the molecular composition remains totally unaltered.

Chemical Change- a change during which the molecular composition gets totally altered,
that is change in which new product is always formed.

D. Process Skills:
Defining, Differentiating, Appreciating,Observing, Critical Thinking
E. Value Integration:
Inquisitive mind and cooperation during the teaching-learning process
F. Teaching Strategies:
Inquiry Approach, Discussion, Audio Visual Presentation

III. DEVELOPMENTAL TASK:

Okay that’s good, we will sing it together.

C. Presentation
This afternoon, we are going to discuss the
two changes of matter- the physical and
chemical change. Physical change is a change in the form of
matter but not in its identity.
1. Discussion
Class do you have any idea whats physical
change is?

Is there any question regarding our topic
for this afternoon, Class?

2. Activity Proper
Class, we will have an activity in relation
to our topic for this afternoon. I will divide
the class into two groups. Those who are
sitting on the left side will be the Group 1
and those on the right side will be the
group 2. You select a leader, a secretary
and a reporter. Your group leader will get
your materials for this activity. Afterwards,
discuss your work in the class.

3. Post activity
(Students will discuss their work on the
board)

V. EVALUATION

Direction: Do what is indicated.

1. What is a physical change? And give at
least 3 examples.

2. What is chemical change? And at least 3

examples.

3. Differentiate chemical from physical

change.

VI. ASSIGNMENT

Research on the phase changes of matter

and differentiate one from the other.

LESSON PLAN IN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

I. Objectives:
A. At the end of the discussion 90% of the students will be able to have 95% mastery of
the light and dark reaction in the process called photosynthesis.
B. At the end of the discussion the students will be able to differentiate and define the
different steps for both light dependent and independent reactions.

II. Subject Matter:

BIO11- Biological Sciences: Photosynthetic Light and Dark Reaction

III. Materials:
Colored papers- for star shaped cut-outs.
Illustration board- used for showing the different steps of light and reaction
mechanism a closer look.
Projector Screen & Projector- for multimedia presentation

your mind? “Yes Ma’am, you are right. Plants are
producers and we and animals are the
consumers. It is because we cannot
produce our own food but plant do in a
chemical process called photosynthesis.”

IV Evaluation
The teacher will let students watch a video of the detailed steps of the Light Dependent
reaction and write a reflection about it.

V. Assignment
In continuation of the first discussion, the teacher tasked the class to read in advance
what Dark Reaction is about, its step, and how it is different from the light reaction.
