ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION (AP)
A sequence of numbers is said to be in A.P. if the difference » Arithmetic Progression (AP)
of any term and its previous term in that order, is same for all
the terms, (excluding the first term) AP
For example:

(il) If the sum of n terms of the sequence is a quadratic expression in n (without constant term) then
the sequence is an AP.
For example: 8n + 7r?, 2n?—7n,

TELESCOPIC METHOD (METHOD OF DIFFERENCE)
‘Sometimes we need to find the sum of a series in which each term can be split into two terms-one positive
and the other negative. If after writing it that way only a few terms remain after cancellation, then the sum
can be easily found. This method is known as telescopic method.
