Diaspora Role Playing Game is a Mature Dark-Fantasy Campaign Setting and
Rule System about the defeated Theldronian Empire and the future of its refugee
people. Now, living on recently founded colonies, these survivors must rebuild
their fractured kingdom on a mysterious and uncharted land. However, human,
and non-human natives began to fight back against these colonizers.
Theldronian Noble Houses plan to take the Royal Throne, now empty with the
emperor’s death during the lost Dark War. While rebuilding their infrastructure
with slave force, they also rebuild each Duchy’s Army for an inevitable war for
the right to rule all Colonies.
Meanwhile, The Church of Light, an oppressive and official religion, command
the reins of the people, from their everyday life up to their view of arcane magic
and its practitioners. Mostly against native paganism and no-humans culture,
but specially against their century’s old adversary, The Order of Hermes. An
empire-sanctioned and nobility-sponsored mage’s guild. Which, in turn, have
other pressing concerns: the threatening rise of The Shadow Realm influence
over The Mortal Realm. Sadly, without an Emperor to sanction their practices,
became even more difficult to believe in a lasting unified wizardly fellowship.
Plunged into the chaotic and recent mass immigration, peasants and settlers
struggle against all odds virtually alone. Some dared to explore further inland,
into the elves and dwarves’ territories. Some have returned with riches and
tales of mighty abandoned non-human ruins beyond imagination. That was the
spark to an explorer’s gold rush, sponsored by greedy Noble Houses and its
ambitious Dukes. Of course, Elves and Dwarves are fighting back, against
these invaders, plunderers, and slavers: you.
You are an explorer, a scout of uncharted lands, looking for treasures to take,
ruins to plunder and study, lands to discover and conquer, monsters to slay or
drive off, natives to fight against or allied to. It’s up to you what mark your
explorer will imprint in Theldronian history.
How to be a decent person when everyone and everything around you pushes
you towards a path of intolerance, greed, and ambition? That is the main theme
of Diaspora RPG, where you must make difference besides all contrary winds.
Whether these may be colonialism and slavery, religious or racial intolerance,
the greed and tyranny of the elites or the struggle for the right to start over in
new lands.
