Video Instruction Ideas
Dear Esteemed Colleague:
Thanks for your video series graphic organizer purchase. All of our videos can be found on the Instructomania
YouTube Channel. Each key concept such as geography, achievements, or economy have playlists for easy
access!
There are tons of ways to use the videos and the three graphic organizers included:
Option 1 Graphic Organizer (labeled on top left) - This option works great with individual Chromebooks or as a
teacher displayed mini-lesson. Here’s how it works well in my class:
1. Students watch the entire video as a class. That way, students can process without searching for answers,
play the game together, and discuss the final question.
2. Handout the graphic organizer to the class and show students how to turn on the close caption (CC on
bottom right of video).
3. Students either watch the video on Chromebooks individually (making sure to pause when needed) or,
teacher plays the video again for the class. If teacher chooses to play the video for the class, it may be
helpful for students if the teacher pauses the video after each answer, or section, in order for the class/
groups/pairs to brainstorm possible answers. In some classes, I even played the video a third time in its
entirety for students to write in answers that were missed.
4. Go over answers with key if desired.
Option 2 Exit Tickets - Students fill in three facts and hand it to the teacher as they walk out the door.
Option 3 Simple Graphic Organizer - Students fill in the graphic organizer as the video plays. Pausing the video
at the end of the map labeling section and setting to close caption may be helpful. Use option one answer key.
Thanks for your support!
