1 began searching for the traditional astrologers of Garhwal - a
region where PATAKI RISHTA CHAKRA was popular. Sh. Devi
Prasad Trlpathl of Lai Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit Vidyapeeth gave me
valuable information regarding this chakra.
My husband, Sh. Vlrendra Dhasmana Is a nephew of Late
Rameshwar Prasad Dhasmana who was the well know astrologer of
Chandni Chowk in Delhi. He encouraged me to persue my research in
this field and continue the famity tradition.

Sometime in 1973 or earlier I saw in eastern India, where I have

had postings during my service career, horoscopes made by traditional
astrologers of those areas, Pataki Rista Chakra (PRC). Invariably in
Orissa, Bengal, Bihar (Darbhanga part) and Orissa the PRC was given
with or without some comment.
I tried it, after knowing that it was a special technique used for
predicting mishaps for children and seeing their survival or otherwise.
It was claimed by many that this technique was very sound and should
be applied to the horoscopes of children invariably before giving any
major prediction about them.
I tried it in some cases and found it giving me results though I
have mostly relied more on the well or better known combinations for
balaristha.
Later in 1981, I heard about a Garhwali astrologer who used to
come and stay in Chandi Chowk, New Delhi who gave predictions
based on PRC invariably and with amazingly great results. Two of his
predictions were talked of mostly, one when a child was in a hospital
and doctors held out almost no hope for it. This astrologer looked at
the horoscope prepared PRC and said that the child would be all right
on the third day. The parents found the boy recovering and smiling on
the third day.
In another case, this Garhwali astrologer held out no hopes for an
ailing child when the doctors had thought that the child was suffering
from a minor ailment. The child died. In course of time this astrologer
earned the respect of many traditional families.
I have always been convinced about the great utility of such
chakras as potent and nearly dependable tools for prediction. But as it
happens, many modern astrologers do not even look at these tools and
emphasise more of their exploitative remedial mesures than fine and
superfine predictions.
But I myself found no time to do any research on PRC as cases of
ailing children hardly were brought to me by worried parents who
went to other astrologers because I was busy otherwise with other
researches.
In one of the research classes of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, once
 I asked students to do some research on this chakra and showed
through a table given In a book how from sunrise and sunset,
Yamardhipati and Yamadandadhipatl were calculated and affliction to
them showed degrees of fatality.
I also told the class that Invariably, every horoscope should be first
analysed through dashas upto three levels at least, transits and
other relevant varga charts.

Then PRC should be tried

In the dass room, Ms Shalini Dhasmana showed keen Interest In It,
collected all available books, collected horoscopes, applied the PRC
technique to them, gave prediction in some cases which were fulfilled
and then convinced herself of the efficacy and great use of this chaltra.
I asked her to produce a monograph on the chakra and take a
workshop also. In the meantime she taught two classes of junior
research on the use of this chakra. A student in that class. Sri N.N.
Sharma applied them to his data of children born deaf and
dumb and found them giving him excellent results.
Shallnl has shown lot of originality In this research by bringing Into
It the karakas of Jaimlnl also in our well known scheme of
composite technique. It is good to see her getting convinced of the
great use of the Pataki Ristha Chakra or P.R.C
She studied nearly forty cases with absolute thoroughness and
I was surprised to see the consistency and pinpointedness In her
research. She worked very hard, very conscentiously like a real
astrologer researcher who are so rare now insplte of the spread of
astrology so much, so wide through books and Internet websites.
It Is only when a research like this comes out which is clear,
cogent and even quantifiable, that one get convinced about the
super science which astrology is.

 Introduction

[yotish is the tarnished old gold lying hidden in the cupboards of

possessive astrologers. The time has come for us to respectfully take it
out of their cupboards, polish it, and present It to the world, so that
more people can benefit from it and so that even the non believers of
astrology get convinced by the soundness of its techniques.
Pataki Rishta chakra is one of these rare techniques of astrology.
It is popular among the astrologers of Garhwal, Orlssa and Assam who
use it with great accuracy for predicting arishta and chances of
recovery in the case of a child, seriously ill, up to the age of 24 years
or so.
Life was simple when this technique was developed. The chakra
was simply used to see illness and recovery from It. Today another
dimension has been added to a child's life. Today it has become a little
common to see children born through surrogate mothers, through
artificial Insemination, or through medical treatment of sterile parents.
Today children are adopted more frequently, or they are born to
parents with live In relationship or to parents having free sex lives.
Tomorrow human babies may be born through cloning. In such cases
how can we astrologically -
• Determine congenital defects?
• Or harm to the child during the nine months of gestation period
In the mother's womb?
• Or paternity of the child apart from modern D.N.A. test?
Pataki Rishta chakra is capable of giving answers to these
questions Some more research on this technique will widen its horizon
even more. With this background let us look at the chakra.
Pataki Rishta Chakra (P.R,C.) is a variation of TRIPATAKI CHAKRA.
Twelve rashies from Aries to Pisces are allotted fixed members and
fixed years. The horoscope of the child Is super imposed on the chakra
and Vedha is noted Dinman or Ratriniman are divided into eight parts to
get the duration of one Yamardha (or Ardhayam or Ardhaprahar). One
yamardha is further divided into four parts to get the duration of one
Dandaman Lord of the yamardha running at the time of birth is
called Yamardhipati. (Ardhayamesh) and the lord of the dandaman
ruling at the time of birth is called Yamadandadhipatl (Dandesh).

 In Hindi language and in Hindu religion, the word Yama means
death, and so Yama Dandadhipati means the planet who will give
Yama,s danda, or he is the planet who is authorised to give Danda
or punishment according to the poorva karmas of the person. If
Lagna, Moon, or Important planets are not getting Vedha from YAMA
DANDADHIPATI the astrologer tells the person to go home in peace
and find the child hale and hearty. It however lagna, Moon or other
important houses or planets are getting Vedha from
YAMADANDADHIPATI. then there is cause for worry and he
prescribes remedial measures,

Let us look at this chart

It looks like a fine horoscope, but it is the horoscope of a still born
child. The secret of this chart comes out in P.R.C. How? We shall see
later.

The process of Identification of Yamadandadapati Involves tedious

calculations in ghati pala system. Effort is being made here to
modernise and simplify these calculations by conversion Into hours and
minute system, which we are more familiar with. Once simplified, it
can even be fed Into the computer. Every child's P.R.C. should be
made and days months and years can be identified before hand,
when a difficult period can come, appropriate remedies can be
suggested.
The rate of infant mortality was very high in olden days when
medical facilities and child health awareness was poor. With the
advancement of medical science, hygiene and health awareness and
with availability of vaccinations etc. this mortality rate has dropped .
considerably, but even today we find such mishaps. Today the face
of Balarishta has changed with changed times. Balarishra can come up In
the form of ill health, death, separation from parents, divorce of

parents. Of even child abuse by parent. What is more alarming is some
new aspects of balarishta i.e. mass deaths of children in hospitals
or theft of children in hospitals or kidnapping of children or child abuse.
May be PRC can help us here. May be it can help us in giving hope and
guidance to worried parents of these children.
This is an on going research. I have considered horoscope falling
under 5 categories:
1. Saved
2. Not saved
3. Someone closely related suffered.
4. Left handicapped
5. Under observation
The research will be later expanded to cover different types of
cases like-
• Multiple births - Twins etc.
• Children with similar horoscopes.
• Any unusual cases.
I would also study the role of upagrahas i.e. gulik Mandi, Dhoom
Parivesh in more detail.
I have made a small begining In the revival of this ancient
technique and I plan to develop this technique with the help of
traditional Garhwall Astrologers and with the Pandulipis (manuscripts)
which are in their possession. Shrl K.N. Rao Is the guiding light in this
research.

 Description of Pataki

Rishta chakra (P.R.C.) — 1

Pataki Rishta Chakra is a Trlpataki Chakra. It is used for seeing

Arishta in the horoscopes of children and adolescents up to the age of
18 to 24 years, which is the age of Balarishta and Yogarishta.

P.R.C. can give us an indication regarding

1. Whether the illness or the apparent arishta is fatal are whether
there is hope for the recovery of the child.
2. Timing of the occurrence. The days months or the years of the
child's life when ill health or arishta can occur.
3. The nature of the ailment according to the planets and the houses
afflicted In the chakra (an observation)
4. The child remaining unharmed directly, but someone else In the
family getting affected adversely.
5. The child surviving, but becoming crippled or handicapped.
6. The child remaining absolutely well despite the arishta In the
horoscope.

With research the scope of the chakra can be expanded to cover

• Similar horoscopes where one person Is affected while the other
is not.
• Twins - one affected and the other not affected.
• Many children affected at the same time.
• The role of the upagrahas
• Other relations of the child like brothers and sisters, grand parents
etc getting affected.
• Prenatal events affecting the child or his family.

The Chakra
P.R.C. as a chakra made up of three vertical lines and three
horizontal lines crossing each other as shown. From the ends of these
lines, transverse lines are drawn to make a chakra as shown in
the figure. Mesha is written on the upper right end. Vrisiabh to Meena

 The horoscope under consideration Is super imposed on the
chakra and vedha is noticed.

Vedha
Vedha means an obstructing or opposing Influence. This Is the
most important feature of the Chakra. Vedha with a malefic planet
causes harm, while on the other hand, Vedha with a benefic
planet provides protection.
Vedha takes place in four ways starting from the rashi. The three lines sta
rting from the Rashi, In three different directions, have to be followed up
to the end. The rashis placed at the ends of these three lines and
the planets placed in them are subjected to Vedha. In
addition to this the planet placed in the original rashi also gets vedha.

The method described so far is mainly Sri Rama Murthi's method.
He has simplified and modernised the technique, He considers the
fixed number for Mesha to be 10. According to him Ihe numbers of
days months or years for each rashi are as follows.

2. Acarya Mukunda Daivagya
Mukunda Daivagya considers the fixed number for Mesha to be

16. The days months or years of arishta are as per the table given
betore. Apart from these two differences, he has followed the same
method.

3. Sri Prajapati Das

Prajapati Das has given the most detailed description of the
construction of the chakra. According to him Pataki Rlshta chakra has
been constructed from Guru Kjndali. Ketu Kundali and Ketu Pataki,
used for seeing arishta in Varsha phal. From these three. Trl pataki
Chakra (Pataki Rishta Chakra) has been created for seeing arishta for
children. According to him Mesha Vrisha and Mithun rashis do not
have their own fixed numbers in P.R.C. Their years have been
calculated by adding the numbers of their vedha places. Thus
Mesha gets IO from Dhanu, 4 from Meena and 2 from Kanya
totalling 16. and similarly for Vrisha and Mithun. Rest of his method is the
same as the others.

Case History
This baby boy was born premature In the eighth month. He
was in a critical condition. He could not breathe independently and
was breathing through the respirator. Medically there was no hope
for his survival. His mother's condition was also quite serious. Her
blood pressure was fluctuating dangerously. After analysing the
horoscope and the P.R.C, he was given Ambuvachi1 prasad cloth to
protect him. He and his mother are absolutely fine now.

Ambuvachi cloth is brought from the famous Kamakhya temple in Gauhati. the
great Shakti Peetha. It is red in colour and can be used as amulet. Many people
in Easterrn Indian believe in its great protective benefits.

The baby was bom premature He weight was only 1.7 Kgs.
Her condition was critical. She was immediately moved to a big
hospital. All the i.c.u. care and medical treatment could not save
her. She died within two days.

Pataki Ris/ifa chakra (P.R.C.) — II

Identification of Yamardhipati and Yama Dandadhipati

Two planets are of prime importance in P.R.C. These are
Yamardhipati (Ardhayamesh) and Yama dandadhipati (Dandesh).
Yamardhipati is the lord of the yamardha (Ardhayam) operating at
the time of birth.
Yamadandadhipati is the lord of the Danda operating at the time
of birth. He becomes the most crucial planet. He is the planet who is
authorised to give the danda or the punishment according to the
poorvakarmas of the child.

The predictive Value of Yama Dandadhipati

After making the P.R.C. and identifying the Yamadandadhipati
(referred to as DANDESH here after),if we find that Dandesh is not
causing Vedha to lagna, Moon or other important planets or houses,
then there is not much cause for worry. But if dandesh is causing
vedha to these relevant planets and houses, then immediately
effective remedies should be advised.

Procedure for identification of Dandadhipati (Dandesh)

Identification of Dandesh is done in two stages
1. Identification ot Yamardhipati (referred to as Ardhayamesh here
after)
2. Identification of Dandesh using Ardhayamesh.
Before proceeding further one concept must be clarified -
DINMAN or RATRIMAN comprise of eight Ardhayams (or
Ardhaprahars or Yamardhas), and each Ardhayam has four Dandas.
We will try to find which of the eight Ardhayams was running at
the time of birth, and of that Ardhayam, which danda was running at
the T.O.B.
Lord of the Ardhayam at T.O.B. is Ardhaymaesh.
Lord of the Danda at T.O B. is the Dandesh.

Step 1. Dinman/Ratriman
Note whether it is day birth or night birth. For day birth
calculate Dinman and for night birth calculate Ratriman (in Ghati Palas).

Step 2. Ardhayam
Divide Dinman or Ratriman by 8 to get the duration of
1 Ardhayam

Step 3. Ishtakal
Subtract the Sunrise from T.O,B to get the time difference
between Sunrise and T.O.B. Multiply these hours and minutes by
2.5 to get the ishtakal in ghati Pala.

Step 4. Ardhayam at T.O.B

Duration of 1 Ardhayam shows the ending ghatis of the first
Ardhayam of the day. Add the duration of 1 Ardhayam to those ghatis
to get the ending ghatis of the second Ardhayam1 Continue like this to
reach the Ishtakal and note which Ardhayam {from 1- 8) was running at
the T.O.B.

Step 5. Ardhayamesh
For Day Birth
For day birth the lord of the first Ardhayam will be the lord of the
weekday himself. Lord of the second Ardhayam will be the lord of
the 6'h day from the weekday of birth. Lord of the third Ardhayam
will be the lord of the 6th day from the week day of the lord of
the second Ardhayam and so on for all 8 Ardhayams.

For night birth - Lord of the week day will be lord of the
first Ardhayam. Lord of the fifth day from the weekday of birth will
be the lord of the second Ardhayam and so on.

Pataki Rishta Chakra

Pataki Rishta chakra Is a rare and specialised technique. It helps us to

go to the deeper levels of the horoscope, showing us what Is not visible at
the superficial levels. Sometimes In hopeless cases It shows us a ray of
hope and sometimes In an excellent looking horoscope it
warns us about an impending disaster
Prediction from P.R.C. should be done after analysing the
horoscope according to the general rules of astrology, after noting the ba
larishta indications, the situation in the varga charts, the status of the pla
nets is according to their strength and after getting a rough
assesment of the ayu Khanda.
Interpretation of P.R.C. revolves around the Dandesh the
Adharyamesh and the Vedha. Vedha and P.A.C. connection (Position
Aspect Conjunction) with malefics tends to produce arishta while
on the other hand Vedha and PAC with benefics tends to provide
protection. In other words, predominance of beneflc Influence
protects while predominance of malefic Influence will either kill the
child or leave him crippled or affect someone else In
his family. This Is the basis of prediction from P.R.C.
This chakra also gives us an idea about timing of the occurrence.
When will arishta or setback take place? The susceptible days months
or years of the child's life can be worked out by combining the
fixed number of the rashis. Caution and remedies can be advised

1. If Vedhakarak planet is a strong malefic then Balarishta will take

9. If lagna gets Vedha from an exalted planet, a debilitated planet,
and from a planet in own rashi then death takes place wthin days
represented. That is, lagna should not get vedha from three such
planets,

II. Views of Govindu Sri Rama Murthi (Span of Life)

Ufa strong malefic Dandadhipatl (Dandesh) or a strong malefic
causes vedha then death will be in days represented.
• If he Is of moderate strength then arishta will take place in
months.
• If he is weak and powerless then death takes place in the year
represented by the rashi.
2. If a powerful benefic causes vedha then death takes place in
years, if he is of moderate strength then in months and If he is
powerless then arishta will take place in days represented.

Dasha at Death - Mercury-Venus-Rahu-Moon
• MDL Mercury - Mercury is the lord of 2nd and 11th House. In this
Manner he has markatwa. He is also the Ardhayamesh, who is
having vedha with lagna lord Sun in the second house.
• ADL Venus - Venus is the 3L and IOL in D-l and the 2L and
7L in D-9. In D-1 he is placed in the 8th house from Moon and in D- 9
he is placed in 2nd house from Moon. In this way he becomes
capable of behaving like a maraka. In P.R.C. Venus has Vedha with
Dandesh Moon. Ardhayamesh Mercury, Lagnesh Sun and 6L-7L
Saturn. Thus, he becomes quite a potent maraka.
• PDL Rahu - Rahu is placed in the rashi of Venus and so he can
behave like Venus. Rahu Ven or Venus Rahu dasha can also bring
such a calamity. Rahu and Venus are in Shadashtak from each
other. In P.R.C. Rahu along with Mandi is having Vedha with lagna
and the seventh house. So Rahu is also quite dangerous.
• SDL Moon - Sookshma dasha lord is the afflicted Moon himself
and he also happens to be the Dandesh.

Conclusion
• There is an indication of Balarishta in the horoscope.
• P.R.C. shows strongly malefic Vedha.
• Maha dasha - antar - pratyantar and sookshma dashas all are
connected to balarishta and so the child could not be saved.

Remark
With these two examples I have tried to illustrate the construction
and use of Pataki Rishta Chakra. The predictive principles are getting
fairly well applied. I am not too sure about the timing from the fixed
numbers of the rashis. May be that aspect of the chakra needs
modification.

 Balarishta and Arishta Bhanga

Balarishta

Balarishta is serious harm caused to a child before twelve years of

age. This harm can present itself in many different ways like serious illness
or premature birth leading to complications, serious congenital defects,
ln|ury at birth or later, physical or mental disability or death at an early
age. Balarishta can take another form In which the child Is not directly
affected by a mishap, but he is put to hardship because of loss of a parent
or accident of a parent, child abuse or child theft or some mishap
affecting the whole family, like riots or war.
Balarishta is one of he reasons why analysis of a child's horoscope
before 12 years of age should not be done. Till that age every child
should be protected by proper medical care, vaccinations, hygene good
practical looking after by the mother and by propitiation of planets
Pataki Rishta chakra is mainly used in balarishta cases. If Dandesh or
Ardhayamesh or other strong malefics are not causing vedha to lagna,
lagna lord, Moon and other Important houses, then the apparent
balarishta may easily pass off and the child will remain protected.
Balarishta depends mainly on the condition of Moon. The classical
combination for balarishta is - If weak Moon is placed intrikka bhavas,
conjoined or aspected by malefics It creates balarishta. Moon signifies
early childhood and mother both. Hence affliction to Moon can affect the
child and the mother both, or either of them independently.
Apart from Moon, affliction to and lagna lord can also create
balarishta. After all lagna is the engine of life.
Eighth house is the house of longevity. It should be protected by the aspect of benefics.
This promotes longevity. Afflictionto eighth house or eighth lord can also pr
oduce balarishta. by curtailing longevity.
Kendras are the pillars of life they should be strong and well
protected by placement or aspects of strong benefics. Affliction to
Kendras can also create balarishta.
Yogas in the horoscopes are a reflection of our entire bank balance
of Karmas But the entire bank balance is not used up In one life time.
Hence we gel result of only those favourable or unfavorable yogas, whose
dasha operates In our life time. So, for real balarishta to take place, dasha

of planets related to balarishta must operate within the balarishta span of
time. If only a pratyantar or sookshma dasha is operating, and it is
connected to the balarishta producing yoga, then may be some trouble
may come up. But if dasha- antar - pratyantar - sookshma &. prana
dasha, all are connected to balarishta, then only God can protect the child
, and this may be seen in the horoscope in the form of a very strong
benefic jupiter, who Is actually god's blessing in Astrology.
Above all gochar is the final clinching factor. When Saturn. Mars,
Rahu, Ketu |upiter or Sun transit the natal Moon or eighth or twelfth
houses from It. and if dasha related to balarishta is operating within the
life span of the child, then balarishta or mrityu tulya kashta may
take place.
Of course lagna chart is the main chart of the horoscope and all the
other vargas originate from it, but to confirm the promise of the lagna
chart, vargas should be looked into. Especially while dealing with a
matter like balarishta - Navamsa, Dreshkan. Dwadasamsa and Trimsamsa
should also be examined. If arishta Is seen repeated in the vargas then
it becomes a cause for worry. However improvement in the vargas gives
hope.
The beneficence or maleficence of planets should also be judged
according to them being lords of 22nd Dreshkan or 64th Navamsa or
because of being placed in sarpa. pakshi nigad or ayudha Dreshkan, or
by being In mrityu Bhag. or by being in Pushkar amsa or Pushkar-
navamsa etc. Association with upagraha Mandi should also be noticed,
Jaimlni angle should also be looked into. The Char Karakas, karkamsa
lagna, pada and upapada lagnas,should also be seen and the critical
Jaimini Dashas should be noted.

Where RR.C. is concerned, I am of the opinion that

1. Vedha with strong benefics may protect the child instead of giving
death in the years of the rashi.
2. Vedha with strong malefic Dandesh. malefic Ardhayamesh and other
malefics. shows balarishta. and if the dasha lords are also Involved
In the vedha then balarishta takes place certainly.

Classical combinations for Balrishta

There are a lot of combinations given in the classes for balarishta.
Most of them are based on the principles mentioned earlier. The classics
use very strong language and mostly pronounce death of the child. To
apply those principles- Desha - Kal - Patra has to be kept in mind.
When the classics were composed, medical facilities were poor and infant

mortality rate was much higher. Often death of the mother took place
during delivery. Times are different today. The word death of the classics
can mean serious illness In many cases. In extreme cased it can even be
death. So these principles have to be viewed in this light. The more
Important balarishta combination one being mentioned.
1. If Moon Is placed In Sixth eighth or twelfth house from lagna and
Is aspected by malefics it causes balarishta.
2. If malefics are placed with Moon or are placed In Kendras from
Moon It causes balarishta.
3. If Saturn Mars and Sun are placed In 6th or 8th house. It leads to
death of the child within one month.
4. If benefics are placed In 6th and 8th house from lagna aspected by
retrograde malefics and unaspected by benefics. then the child dies
In 1 month.
5. If Dhoomaketu is rising in the |anma nakshatra at the time of birth.
It causes death of the child in 2 months.
6. If retrograde Saturn Is placed In the rashi of Mars. In the eighth
house from lagna and is aspected by a strong Mars. It gives two
year of life to the child.
7. If weak Moon is accompanied by malefics and is aspeced by Rahu1
then the child dies in a short time.
6. If birth lagna falls in Pasha (Nlgad) Dreshkan or Pakshl Dreshkan or
Sarpa Dreshkan and is associated with malefics and s unassociated
with benefics it causes balarishta.
9. Vajra Mushti Yoga - If cancer or scorpio are in lagna and all malefics
are placed in the eastern half (10th to 4th houses) an all benefics are
placed in the western half (4th to 10th house) the child is bereft of
longevity.
10. If birth Is during eclipse,when Sun and Moon are very close to Rahu
and Ketu, and if Saturn and Mars aspect lagna (Sun. Moon, lagna
- all afflicted), the child dies within 15 days.
11. If Moon is in lagra in Papa Kartari. unaspected by benefics and
malefics are placed In the seventh and eight house the child dies
with the mother (A dreadful and powerful yoga).
12. If birth is during an eclipse and Moon is associated with malefics In
lagna and Mars is in the eighth house the child dies with the mother
because of a weapon (operation!)

Arishta to Mother
I. Moon aspected by three malefics indicates death of mother, but if
it is also aspected by benefics. then they give protection.

 2. if malefics are in the fifth and ninth house (trikonas) from a weak
Moon1 the mother dies within six months of the childs birth.
3. if Saturn Is in the 10th house, moon is In the sixth house and Mars
in the seventh house, it results In death of mother and the child.
4. If birth is at night in Matri ganda - (the first 3 dandas of magha
nakshatra or last 5 dandas of Ashlesha) the mother may die In 4-8
yrs from birth of the child.
Arishta to mother may take place if fourth house, fourth lord and
Moon or fourth from Moon are under the Influence of strong malefics. If
Such an Indication is repeated in D-9 and D-12, and appropriate dasha
is operating, then arishta or serious setbook to mother may take place.

Arishta to Father
1 Sun In papakatari or in association with malefics and If malefics are
placed in seventh from Sun It leads to death of father.
2 Sun In navamsa of Mars, aspected by Saturn - father dies before the
birth of the child or renounces his family.
3 Saturn is in lagna. Mars in seventh house and Moon in sixth house
- death of father.
4 If birth is in day time in Pitri ganda (first three dandas of Moola and
last five dandas of Jyeshta), It Is adverse for the life of the father.
5. Birth In Abhuktamoola - last ghati of Jyeshta and 1st ghati of Moola
Nakshatra is adverse for father.
• If ninth house ninth lord or tenth house/10th lord and Sun are
afflicted in D-^ D-9 and D-12, arishta to father may take place.
• Birth In gandanta is well known for adversely affecting the child or

malefics can become a dire malefic himself. Hence his dasha is not

Conclusion
Affliction to Moon and lagna lord has given susceptibility to Arishta.

Influenced some key places and made the balarishta more severe.

Arishta is serious harm caused to a person. When this harm takes

place in childhood it is called BALARISHTA. It can happen in the form
of illness or accident or some great setback of any kind, or even death.
Arishta can also harm other members of the person's family. So under
no circumstances is arishta welcome. All the same, one need look always
get alarmed by seeing arishta in a horoscope. One must look for
protective factors. These protective factors are called arishtabhanga.
Itiey provide protection and result in comparative improvement.
Even when arishta comes, the person is able to pull through it
because of arishtabhanga.
Arishtabhanga is seen in the horoscope in the form of strong beneflc
influence. Association of Strong beneflcs protects the child or the older
person.

Some classical combinations for Arishtabhang

1. Predominance of benefic influence on lagna, lagna lord. Moon.
Moon's rashi lord or on Kendras and trikonas cancels Balarishta
2. If a strong dignified benefic Jupiter (exalted, or in own sign or in
mooltrikona sign and being lord of agood house) is placed in lagna,
he gives a strong protection against arishta. In these circumstances
he is supposed to cancel one lakh doshas. Under similar situation
Venus cancels ten thousand doshas and Mercury cancels are
thousand doshas.
3. Strong lagna lord in lagna or in Kendra cancels arishta and promotes
longevity.
4. If Moon is placed in 6 8 or 12 house, aspected or associated
with malefics and if birth has been in the day time in Krishna paksha
or at night time in shukla Paksha. then instead of killing, that same
Moon protects the child.
b. full Moon aspected by all planets, cancels arishta.
6. Chandra Adhi yoga or lagna Adhl yoga protects the child strongly.
7. Good strong Rajyogas provide protection against arishta.
8. If Sun is placed in 12lh house for libra lagna horoscope It gives a
very long life.
9. Rahu in upachaya (3-6-11th house) aspected by a benefic removes
balarishta instantaneously. It Rahu is placed in lagna in Aries, Taurus
or cancer or Leo rashis, then also It cancels arishta.

To sum up
(a) Moon Is the main planet whose affliction is responsible for balarlshta.
When moon Is weak, ill placed and ill associated (by PA.C.
connection) and is without any benefic influence then balarlshta is
caused. However if moon Is ill placed, but Is under the influence
of beneflcs In D1 and in the important vargas (i.e. Navamsa.
Dreshkan. Dwadasamsa. Trimsamsa and Shashtiamsa) and is
unassociated with malefics. then there is protection from arishta.
(b) Jupiter is another planet whose association provides strong
protection. Venus and Mercury also provide protection but to a
lesser extent than Jupiter.
(c) Lagna and Lagna lord are also very important for the well being of
the child. Affliction to lagna and lagna lord (Influence of malefic
planets and trik bhavas in form of P.A.C. connections) is responsible
for Arishta. but If lagna lord and kendras also have the influence of
benefics especially of a dignified Jupiter then protection is provided.
If arishtabhansa exists in a horoscope then it does not mean that
arishta or trouble will not come at all, it means that arishta may come but
the child will remain protected. If arishta Is moderate and arishta bhanga
Is strong, then there is no fear, however it arishta is very strong
and arishta bhanga Is weak then only god's blessings can save the child.

Where PRC is concerned

1. If moon, lagna. lagna lord or other important planets or houses are
getting Vedha from Dandesh. Ardhaymesh or malefics and they are
getting afflicted, then balarlshta is caused. If these are also getting
Vedha from strong well placed benefics. then they will provide
arishta bhanga and they will either delay arishta by years or
will cancel It altogether
2. If Dandesh Is strong well placed benefic then he may give danda
In a mild form and he may even give protection later on.

Some water had fallen near the cooler. The child happened to step

This is a special case taken from Sh. K.N. Rao's "Learn Successful
Predictive Techniques of Hindu Astrolgy". The case was placed before
Rao Saheb by Astrologer K.C. Saxena around 1978. Sh. Saxena
admitted to Rao Saheb that he was the only Astrologer who had been
able to correctly point out that the boy had suffered a serious ailment

illustrate how this technique was probably used by Rao Saheb 26
years back.
The Child Survived but he is left very badly mentally handicapped

Case History
At 2 years of age this child suffered from a serious ailment. He recovered,
but not fully. The ailment made him a vegetable for life. He was left very
badly handicapped mentally and he became dumb, though he is still
alive but there has been no Improvement in his condition.

Balarishta Indication
Moon is very badly afflicted. He Is debilitated in the seventh
house.
He Is dosely aspected (degree wise) by retrograde Saturn and by
Mars.
, Lagna Lord Venus, though placed in lagna in own sign, is
afflicted.
Mars who is a Maraka for Taurus lagna is placed In lagna with
lagna lord, within 1°. Thus lagna lord becomes a loser In planetary war
with the maraka. His situation does not Improve In Navamsha.

Dasha of Saturn was operating at the illness and the subsequent

1. Moon
Sh. E,S. Issue has mentioned In his paper on Mental Maladies in

upagrahas and influencing Moon causes depression. When Mars
joins such a combination, the person becomes aggressive.
He has given many other combinations for mental maladies
invoking upagrahas. Most of them are getting applied In this case.
Saturn Is located with gulik and parivesh and aspects Moon.
Moon is placed with Dhoom and is aspected by Mars. Mrityu and
afflicted Venus.
Moon's dispositor is Mars himself
In D9 Moon is aspected by Saturn again.
In D9 Moon is placed in the eighth house with Mars aspected by
retrograde Saturn.

2. Fifth house and fifth lord

Fifth house is seventh from two upagrahas - Mandl and Kala and
Is thus afflicted.
In D-9 fifth house Is in Rahu Ketu axis aspected by Ret. Saturn.
However some protection is provided by Jupiter.
Fifth lord Mercury (the planet for intellect) Is placed in Sarpa
Dreshkan In the third house aspected by Ret. Saturn. In D-9 he is
placed in lagna again aspected by Ret. Saturn.
Fifth from Mercury — Afflicted Moon is placed In fifth from
Mercury.

3. Jupiter
jupiter Is a conditional Matefic for Taurus lagna. He Is placed in the
twelfth house aspected by Saturn.
In D-9 he Is placed In the eleventh house protecting the fifth
house, but his protection is weakened by the retrograde aspect of
Saturn.

4. Mental Condition can also he seen from the fourth house •

It being the house of peace of mind. Fourth house is afflicted by the
aspect of Saturn and Mars. Jupiter's protection proves inadequate,

him protection enough to continue life.
Saturn who becomes the chief trouble causing planet is Yogakarak
for Taurus lagna and he has spared him death.
Jupiter has provided little bit of protection.

Conclusion
Balartehta indkation supercedes the protection and this person
led the life comparable to an animal's life. This is where the role of
poorvakarmas comes in.

This Child was playing on the roof on 20-4-1996. He accidently fell
down from the roof. His brain was operated the same night and he was
saved. He underwent another brain surgery after one year and he is

Died in one month
Some times what has to happen does happen no matter how
much you try to prevent it. I repeatedly kept on insisting that
moolashanti and Mahamritunjaya yoga japa should be performed for
this little baby. I even sent Ambuvachl's Prasad cloth. But Moolashanti
could not be performed because the baby never came out of the I.C.L.
and Maha Mrityunjaya Japa could not be performed because of lack of
time and because of unavailability of a good pandit. This was gods
will, and turning of the Kala Chakra!

Transit
It is worth noticing that Saturn turned retrograde on 25th October
2003. On 23rd -24th October he was Sthir or stationary at 2 s-IQ^O'.
I was afraid of this movement. This was happening in the in the
seventh house from lagna and in the twelfth house from Moon1 closely
ever the natal degree of Saturn which was 2s-18°21,. From here he was
also dosely aspecting the lagna degree. This proved too much for the
little infant and she died on the 24th morning.

Conclusion
The protection seen in D-l was not supported in P.R.C. where the
true picture was visible.

This shloka implies that even if Jupiter and Venus are vargottam
exalted or in own rashi and are placed in Kendras, and if vedha is
from malefic, strong powerful malefics. then the death will take place
not in years but in days equal to the numbers belonging to the rashis
involved in vedha.
In my opinion this shloka gives the key to prediction from PRC
and that is;

"The harm done is directly proportional to the maleficiencc of the

planets causing vedha.
Two cases are being presented to prove this point. The first case
is of two twin boys, of whom one was still born and the other died in
fourteen hours.
The second case is taken from Astrological magazine. The writer
was unable to understand the reason for such sudden death, (see page
150 case vi)
In these cases unless PRC is used it is difficult to understand why
these babies died so soon, The horoscopes by themselves look like

Twin brothei were born. The elder was born at 11;20 am
younger was born at 11;25 am The elder was still born and the
younger died after 14 hours. Their mother suffered a lot physicaly and
mentally. The horoscopes of both boys are the same, with very slight
difference In sookshma dasha. Their PACs are also the same. Their
mother is also an astrologer, and she could not understand why
her babies had died.

2. Third house of longevity

Third house gets vedha from two upagrahas * gulik. Mandi.
Yamardhipati Mars is also In vedha with the third house.

3. Eighth house of death

Eighth house gets vedha from Saturn and Ketu

Case History
This boy was absolutely normal till 22 years of age. The trouble
started off with numbness and pain in his toes and in his heels. This got
worse day by day. No clear diagnosis could be made, despite all tests.
Then pain and problems started in other parts of the body, like head

Case History
In december 1999, when this child was 16 years old, the toes of
his right foot started going numb, followed by attackts of severe pain.
After a few days, these attacks started becoming more frequent.The pain
started from the toes and went up his ankle, calf, knee and the thigh.
After that his calf used to became stiff as if in a cramp. The child swithered
in unbearable pain for about one hour. These attacks came four to five
times a day. Clear diagnosis could not be made despite all possible tests.
Even brain cancer was suspected. Two operations took place. Finalty it
was found that it was a spine and nerve related problem. It got cured by
surgery. The situation led to a lot of suffering and mental tension to
the child and to his family. He recovered in the begining of 2001, in
about 14 months. The ailment appeared very serious but the chid
got cured. After that he appeared for his class 12 exams and
passed gracefully.

she was operated for appendicitis. But later on the ailment was diagnosed

Pataki Rishta Chakra

Laga sudhhi

One of the basic prerequisites for horoscope making Is availability of

accurate Birth time. This accurate T.O.B. is quite elusive especialy in the
case of the slightly older persons. For such cases Dandesh can be used
to correct the T.O.B.
Acharya Mukunda Daivagya has described three methords for
identifying the dandesh in his 'Jyotistatvam'. if the same planet is found
to be the dandesh by all the 3 methods or at least by 2 methods
then the T.O.B. is said to be correct. The T.OB, can be corrected
by approximately 10-15 minutes plus or minus by this method.

Method -1
This is the long method described earlier.

Method - II
1. Note the number of janma nakshatra and multiply it by the same
number,
2. For day birth divide the product by 8. and for night birth divide it

3. Count the remainder from Sun in the weekday order, to get the
dandesh. if the remainder is 0, then Rahu becomes the dandesh.

Method-Ill
1. Multiply the janma nakshatra by 2 and add 13 to the product.
2. Starting from Vaishakha, count up to the month of birth. Add that
number also to the product.
3. Divide this figure by 4.
If the remainder is 1 then it is the 1st danda of the ardhayam; if
2 then 2nd; If -3 then 3 rd and if - 0 then the 4th danda of the
ardhayam.
4. Dandesh will be identified according to method 1.
If the same planet is found to be dandesh by all the three method
or at least by 2 mehtod the T.O.B. is correct and the lagna is Shuddha.
If different planets are found to be dandesh by all the methods then
one should move the danda 1 ahead or 1 behind (the difference of
26-minutes In T.O.B) and see if the same dandesh can be found. If yes
then the T.O.B. is correct otherwise the birth time may have to be
rectified by more then 15 minutes.

(Dandesh according to method I and 2 ) is not got.
Since the first two method are showing the same Dandesh we
accept the T.O.B. to be correct.
 Prenatal event seen through

Pataki Rishta Chakra

Rinanubandhan is the base of family relationships and the

horoscope is a reflection of our poorvakarrnas and this rinanubandhan.
This case is being presented to prove this principle of astrology. It also
shows that a child's horoscope and his P.R.C. can be used to see
an event which has taken place before his birth.
The horoscope belongs to an airforce officer's son. About 4
months before his birth, on 17-6-1976 his father's plane collided with
another airforce plane in mid air. The plane was badly damaged but the
pilots managed to land. The father's neck was badly fractured. He
remained unconscious for 3-4 days. Once he regained consciousness,
he was put in plaster for 3-4 months. But he recovered completely
and continued flying for another 15 years. He is well today also. 28
years after the accident. Insplte of getting 'Mrityu Tutya Kashta' (death
like experience )he got away scot free.
The technique used in this case is as follows -
1. From balance of dasha the dasha has been moved and followed
backwards going into the time period before birth, till the time
when the air crash took place. The prenatal dasha at the accident
has been noted.
2. Vedha has been observed; For father - Ninth house, ninth lord,
and karaka Sun, has been observed and vedha to these has been
noted.
3. Prenatal dasha has been analysed and its connection in P.R.C. has
been seen.
4. Transit has also been applied and has been found accurate,
though I have not illustrated transit in prenatal conditions.
This technique can be tried on other such cases. This case is an
experiment.

Possible uses
I. Birth time can be rectified this way - 1 danda changes with 18
minutes of time.

ADL and SDL Venus

Venus is the eighth lord from ninth house and the eighth lord
from Sun. He is placed in the seventh from the ninth lord and in
the second from Sun. For these reasons, he has the tendency to
behave like a maraka for father.

PDL Sun
• Sun is the pitrakarak. He is debilitated in the fourth house.
• He is accompanied by two natural malefics and gets combined
vedha from them.
• In D-9 he becomes the eighth lord.
• In D-I2. he is placed in the eighth house. For all these reasons his
dasha becomes adverse for father.

• Sun Venus, mutual dasha is after seen causing accidents.
• It may be a coincidence that at the accident, the father was also

The saving factor

Inspite of facing Mrityu Tulya Kashta, the father survived and
Is still well today. For this to happen there has to be some strong saving
element somewhere.
In the horoscope the same nine planets play different roles at
different times unfolding the man's destiny. Let us see how this is seen
in this horoscope.
1. Dandesh Moon is also the lagna lord.
2. Sun. even though debilitated and afflicted is vargottam in D-9,

place when the child was 5 months in his mothers womb.
3. This case is only an experimental case. P.R.C. applied on Varga
has given fairly good result.
4. The case becomes a unique case where Astrological principles are
proving their soundness even before birth. It also goes to
show that destiny starts operating even before birth.

A combined study of over fifty horoscopes Along with their Pataki

Rlshta chakras has resulted in certain observations, which have pointed
towards certain conclusions. These are summarised below
1. If Yamadandadiipati is a well placed benefic (i.e. exalted - in
own rashl - vargottam- well associated - placed in kendras or
trikonas- then he gives a mild danda. and he may even provide

2. If Yamardhipati is an illplaced malefic then he also causes harm.
3. When Karaka for any matter becomes the yama Dandadhlpati, he
harms his own Karaktwa and somedmes even his lordship ( A
very sound observation).
4. The harm or damage done is directly proportional to the
malefldence and the potency of the vedha.
5. Dasha or dasha lords, operating at the time event have been
found to have P.A.C connection or vedha with Dandadhlpati or
Yamardhipati or with the important planets involved in the
major vedha.
6. Timing comes out correct in about 60-70% of the cases.
7. Trouble can come up in the body parts represented by the houses
or rashis In which the vedha is taking place.
Or
The family member related to the house under vedha can suffer.
8. If a karka Is subjected to strong malefic vedha. then the family
member represented by the karka or the other significations of
the karka many suffer.
Eg - if fourth house and Moon are involved in strong vedha
the person's mother may suffer.
9. In Some cases when dandesh is the karka himself then, the harm
is caused by the relation represented by Karaka
Eg - If Sun is dandesh - the father took poison himself or landed
in hospital because of his own bad habits.
10. Afflicted Dandesh and Yamardhipati are very harmful.
11. Vedha with two or more retrograde planets, and especially if they
are maleflcs, proves very harmful.

 12. Vedha with upagrahas is quite adverse.
13. When benefic and malefic influences are equal then it may result
in a disability, or a deformity.
14. In a basically protected horoscope trouble may come up only
during an adverse dasha related to dandesh etc
15. When dandesh also has vedha with the disease producing
combination, then the disease becomes more serious
16. When a protective and adverse Indication is repeated in vedha,
then that result definitely happens.
17. The chakra can be applied to a prenatal event, mostly within the
gestation period of nine months.
18. Association or Vedha of lagna /lagna lord or Moon or dasha with
Jaimini Gynatl Karak or with dandesh, creates trouble .
• while their association with Jaimini Putrakarak (a representative of
the benefic fifth house) tends to provide protection, provided P.K.
is not retrograde or afflicted or dandesh himself.

Tips for analysis of the P.R.C.

1. It must be used along with D-1
2. Balarishta or Arishta bhanga must be assessed before hand.
3. Indications of the disease or the mishap must also be present in
the D-1
4. P.R.C. must also be related to dasha, and even gochar - whenever
possible, for pinpointing the event and its timing.

there is promise for disease in the horoscope and if adverse dasha is also
operating
Lord of twenty second dreshkane and Sixty fourth navamsa and the
planets associated with them by PAC. all qualify as disease producers and
add further maleficience to an adverse dasha or precipitate an untoward
event.
Twenty second Dreshkane falls in the eight house from lagna and
its lord is twenty second Dreshkane lord.
Sixty fourth navamsha is considered from moon and falls in the eight
