Introduction 4. Make sure that within the specified time the

battery charge display shows a minimum of three
bars. Refer to Figure 1.
This bulletin contains an enhanced calibration
procedure. Duration: 20s

Procedure
Step - 1 (Check Battery Charge)
1. Make sure the machine is fully charged,
Preferably fully charge the machines batteries
the night before.
2. To confirm the state of charge, operate steering
to full lock and hold on full lock for 10 seconds,
allows hydraulic system to blow over relief.
3. Make sure that the battery charge display does
not drop below 2 bars. Refer to Figure 1.

Step - 2 (Preparation)
1. Position the machine on firm level ground. Make
sure that there is sufficient clearance above the
machine to allow the platform to rise to full height
without contacting any other objects.
2. Use an anemometer to measure the wind speed,
if you are calibrating the machine outside. Refer
to Figure 2.

3. For an indoor rated machine, the maximum wind

speed allowed as specified (Only for calibration,
not for operator use outside).
Speed: 8m/s
3.1. Note: when using weights for calibration
limit the amount of surface area exposed
to the wind. The use of small individual
weights is recommended which sit below
the platform toe guard, refer to the parts list
table for details. Use of large surface area
weight may cause the machine to apply
forces on the platform causing it to become
unstable.
4. For an outdoor-rated machine, the maximum
wind speed is as specified.
Speed: 12.5m/s
5. Do not attempt calibration if the wind speed is
more than the machines design limits.

Step - 3 (No Load Calibration)

1. Complete the no load calibration procedure.

band, repeat the Full Load calibration - adjusting
the calibration weight by the amount it failed
the test. For example, if an S1930E calibrated
with 230kg (rated load) lifts more than the 105%
limit by 20kg, repeat the calibration with 20kg
less weight in the platform than the previous
calibration (i.e. now use 210kg).
12. Then recheck to see if the machine is within the
specification. If the machine calibrates correctly
go to step 11.

Step - 6 (Check Charge and Retry)

If the machine fails to pass the Full Load calibration
test in Step 5, check the condition of charge. If

8. Check that the machine stops at the correct
height (27cm separation between scissor arms).
If the machine functions correctly, the complete
calibration procedure is now finished. If there is
an issue with the functionality, please contact
JCB Service.
9. If the machine had previously failed the Full Load
calibration in step 5, and step 7 was successful,
go back and retry step 5 again. If the machine will
still not go through step 5, contact JCB Service.
