Calculation of wheels:

The wheel force is calculated acc. following formula:

R ≤ p zul ⋅ c 2 ⋅ c 3 ⋅ d1 ⋅ (k − 2 r1 ) (1)

The result is the wheel diameter:

R
d1 = (2)
p zul ⋅ c 2 ⋅ c 3 ⋅ (k − 2 r1 )

R = wheel force [N]

k-2r = ideal usable width of rail head [mm]
pzul = allowed compression between wheel and rail [N/mm²]
d1 = diameter of wheel [mm]
c2 = rotation speed factor [chart mating of materials]
c3 = operating time factor [chart mating of materials]

The characteristic wheel force R0 is the result of equation (1) if:

pzul = 5,6 N/mm²

c2 =1
c3 =1

inserted to: R 0 = 5,6 ⋅ d1 ⋅ (k − 2 r1 ) (3)

R0 = characteristic wheel force

By usage of characteristic wheel force the allowed wheel force can

be calculated simplified by following formula

R ≤ R0 ⋅ c1 ⋅ c 2 ⋅ c 3 (4)

For crane wheels:

R min + 2 ⋅ R max
R= (5)
3

Rmax = max wheel force [N]

Rmin = min. wheel force [N]

For trolley wheels:

R = R max (6)

Rmax and Rmin should be found by the frequent operating position of charged trolley.

Design and mounting features

The wheelsets can be designed for corner bearing assembly, box girder assembly and direct mounting.

The type corner bearing assembly has proven advantageous by means of delivery of the fully assembled wheelset. The mounting and
removal is carried out by directly removing the wheel / shaft unit in conjunction with a notched profil girder section at one corner.

This solution offers quick installation and removal of wheel sets and thus a highly available system. Wheelsets of type box girder assem-
bly and direct mounting are delivered as single parts, thus the wheelset must not be dismantled for the mounting.

If the customer has profil girders with no possible machining of the bores of the flange bearing housing, it is possible to flame-cut the
holes in the pofil girder. The centering of the flange bearing housings is taken by clamping pins DIN 1481. After the exact alignment of
the wheelsets the holes for the clamping pins in the flange bearing housings and in the box girder are made jointly.

The flange connection thus can be released at any time and then be reassembled accurately.

hardened. The hardening is used exclusively to minimize wear.

Roller bearing and temperature range

The wheelsets are float-mounted in the flange bearing housings respectively profil girders with spherical roller bearings. With additional
shim rings per wheelset, the tolerance in the floating bearing can be adjusted from 0.1 up to 0.25 mm during assembly.

1 Application

The Sibre ABC-V drum coupling of the series is especially designed for the use in rope drum
drives.
It is used for the transfer of medium and high torques as rope drum couplings in crane hoisting
gear, conveyance, stackers, ship unloaders, container cranes as well as in heavy, rough smelting
works.
Torques of up to 1025 kNm and radial loads of up to 550 kN can be transferred with a maximum
coupling diameter of 1025 mm.
The design of the SIBRE drum coupling is performed on the basis of the steel-iron-guidelines
(Stahl-Eisen-Betriebsblatt) SEB 666 212.
The exchangeability regarding connection dimensions with series on the market is ensured.

The following drawings 1 and 2 show the typical arrangement of a rope drum drive in a crane
installation.

Drawing 1 shows the direct displacement of the rope drum over a rigid hub on the drive output
shaft. This unrecommended construction leads to a structurally undefined suspension.
In practice such a connection requires a difficult to achieve precision in assembly and alignment.
Misalignment during assembly or dending of the foundation with this hub causes significant
additional loads in the drive shaft, which in turn leads to damage in the drive gearing or in the
bearings, or to fatigue failure on the shaft.

Drawing 2 shows the standard support of a rope drum via a drum coupling on the gearbox output
shaft.
The drum coupling is working as a joint, that also allows limited axial displacements. As a result,
the connection is structurally defined and the side load on the drive shaft is significantly reduced.

Drawing 2
Shows a double drum drive with drum couplings. The driven shaft and the rope drum are
supported in a structurally defined way.

Drawing 3 shows the use of a drum coupling in a single drum drive. The drum coupling is
designed as a loose bearing with length compensation. The axial forces accured due to the
inertial forces and rope flow have to be absorbed by the oppositely lying vertical bearing of the
rope drum.
The vertical bearing is usually constructed with a spherical roller bearing as a “fixed bearing”.

The drum coupling largely consists of a hub part and a housing part, fitted above each other
axially. Drill holes are arranged in the parting plane throughout the diameter of both parts. The
power transmission of the hub part onto the housing part occurs with positive locking. Hardened
barrel rollers are fit into the drill holes, which are formed from the two circular gearings, as power
transmission elements. The sealing of the coupling is achieved through double-sided covers with
lip seals. This prevents escape of lubricant from the coupling, as well as intrusion of dirt from
outside. The semicircular gearing of the hub over the outer diameter is crowned.
Together with the arched drum roll it is possible for the hub to oscillate relative to the housing
part, therefore angular and axial displacement can be compensated.
The coupling housing has an attachment flange which is fixed to the front flange of the drum. The
transmission between the coupling and the drum roll occurs partially by friction torque, and
partially by positive locking by the oppositely lying camming surfaces on the housing.
Grade 10.9 high-tension bolts are to be used as connection bolts.
The coupling is built with visual wear and position display. Using a wear cam on the housing part
and wear grooves on the hub part, the wear on the coupling gearing can be easiliy checked from
the side of the coupling. The wear cam also can be used for checking the axial position of the
coupling housing to the coupling hub.

The drum couplings of the ABC-V series, that transfers high radial loads in addition to high
torques, are characterized by the following features:

 Compensation of angular displacement up to +/- 1°

 Depending on the size of the coupling axial shifting from up to +/- 4mm to up to +/- 10mm.
The max. angular displacement and max. axial shifting must not be fully exploited
simultaneously (see information in the OM).
The standard drum coupling is not suitable fortransfer of axial loads.
 Due to the adjustability of the arched drum roll the sliding within the gearing at an angular
displacement is limited, which significantly reduces wear due to relative movements.
 A high overload safety is the result of the robust design.
 The power transmission between the coupling hub, the drum roll, and the coupling housing
additionally leads to smoothed tooth flanks. There is a strain hardening of the material
structure which improves the wear resistance.
 Due to the convex and concave fit of the drum rolls to the coupling hub and the coupling’s
housing, the forces are spread across a large contact surface which leads to favourable
compressive stresses (drawing 4).

 The circular gearings of the drum coupling have a much more favourable tooth flow load
compared to the involute gearing of a tooth coupling. Due to the wide tooth base of the drum
coupling the tooth flow bending stress is much lower than a comparable tooth coupling (see
drawing 5).

3.2 max. radial load FR max

The support of the rope drum occurs by the vertical bearing (fixed bearing) on one side, and by
the drum coupling (floating bearing) on the other side.
The radial load FR max is the proportion of the rope tensile force that has to be absorbed by the
drum coupling.
The rope tensile force in turn includes the max. payload as well as the load of the suspension
elements.

9 Wear Display

The wear display serves to detect the wear at the gearing.

With increasing wear the wear cam will cover the wear groove more and more caused by the
torsion of the coupling hub in relation to the housing.
If the wear cam is centrically covered, the max. wear is reached and the drum coupling has to be
replaced.
The layout of the wear display simplifies a lateral check.

The max. permitted wear is shown in Table 6. In applications with two load directions the max.

FEATURES

The sheaves are made with different diameters according to DIN,

FEM or on customers´ requirements.

Laminated sheaves are ideal to replace cast iron sheaves, which represent disadvan-
tages such as frequent control, maintenance. etc. They have no pores, contamination,

Hydraulic Buffers
Type HD
Hydraulic Buffers HD

Hydraulic buffers type HD

Product description
Crane buffers are safety relevant components, in case of emergency they protect cranes and trolleys, by their optimized force-stroke
performance curve, against high impacts. The SIBRE range of products includes hydraulic buffers with gas retraction as well as cellular
buffers for smaller travel carriages.

Our HD series hydraulic buffers are especially developed for harsh environments; these products are mainly used in port applications and
steel making plants. The damping characteristic of the buffers can be adjusted by a variable throttle system, so it can be optimized for
every specific application.

An outstanding product lifetime is guaranteed by the hard chrome plated piston rod, special sealings and hydraulic fluid as well as high
level precision in production. Hydraulic buffers are available with different diameters of piston; with a stroke of 50-600 mm a damping
capacity of 10-330 kJ can be realized.

Cellular Buffers
Type PB-C
Cellular Buffers PB-C M 1501 407 E-EN-2011-09

Cellular Buffers Type PB-C (with mounting flange)

The PB-C series buffers are made of high grade polyurethane material,
with the excellent material properties it can be widely used in many
kind of industrial applications.

Because of the cellular mixed structure of the

elastomer, the buffer can absorb very high energy,
the high stroke of up to 70% of the total length as
well as the effect of oil can’t damage the buffer.

The high quality surface protection guarantees a long life time,

even if the buffer is installed on heavy duty machineries or in
harsh environments. The usage of the buffer at temperatures of -30°C
to +60°C is also no problem.

The SIBRE product range includes cylindrical buffers with square mounting plate or
center thread rod, diameter from 80 to 500 mm are being produced in different lengths.

Metal Buffers Type K

Buffer selection

Select the buffer according to the energy that must be absorbed by the buffers themselves. If mounting a pair of buffers on the head-
boards of the bridge crane, the distinct values of the bridge and the trolley’s mass and the travelling speed of the crane are necessary
elements for the dimensioning.

When determining these elements, take in account what follows:

The value of the crane’s mass must also include any non- oscillating load, while excluding the suspended load to the ropes, as required
by laws CNR -UNI 10021-73, section I FEM, DIN 15018.

When determining the impact speed, if means of speed reduction are provided, it can be multiplied by a reduction coefficient of 0.7, as
required by the previously quotaded laws. Otherwise, for a higher security, this coefficient can be ignored.

The kinetic energy of the impacting mass is equally distributed just when the trolley, as well as the structure’s center of gravity, are in
central position. Otherwise one of the buffers will be more stressed than the other one. Each of them is not going to absorb just half of
the total kinetic energy, the most critical position of the impacting mass must be considered.

Apply the following formula to quickly calculate the energy developed by the impact on the single buffer of the bridge:

Energy [J] = (0,5 * bridgemass [t] + trolleymass [t]) * (bridgespeed [m/min’])2 *0,142

Apply the following formula to quickly calculate the energy developed by the impact on the single buffer of the trolley:

Energy [J] = (0,5 * trolleymass [t]) * (trolleyspeed [m/min’])2 * 0,142

They derive from a variety of mathematical simplifications of the formula E = ½ m * s2, where „m“ is the impacting mass expressed in
Kg, resulting from the ratio between weight and coeff. 9,81 m/s2, while „s“ is the speed at the moment of contact expressed in m/sec.

To determine the type of the buffer more easily, diagrams on the following pages can be used.

WARNING

In case of bridge cranes with overhanging beams it is necessary to take into account the higher energy which goes on the buffer.

LIMIT SWITCHES
FEATURES

The rotary limit switch is a device which allows you to control the movement of industrial and building
machines.

The shaft is connected to the motor, so that, after a precise number of turns, the cams cause the
intervention of the internal contacts. The innovative and thorough regulation of the cams allows you
to set the microswitches working point linearly and micrometrically.

The limit switch ranges several ratios and you can assemble different kind of sensors realizing various
linear outputs. Contacts are positive opening (EN 60947-5-1), which improves the workers‘ safe. This
series includes a great number of different accessories, which make the use of the limit switch much
easier.
