Palatiw is one of the barangays of Pasig City within the Metropolitan Area of Manila.
II. History of Palatiw , Pasig City Philippines.
Palatiw is five kilometers away from EDSA and one kilometer away from the heart of downtown at
the northwest side of Pasig. Very accessible because almost all kinds of transportation’s are
present. Proximal to Pasig Public market, to Pasig City Hall, to hospitals like Pasig City General
Hospital and Rizal Medical Center, to churches Like La Immaculada Concepcion Cathedral, San
Agustin Parish, Jesus is Lord God and Savior Charismatic Church, and Iglesia ni Kristo Church.
Palatiw was the third among four first Barangays of Pasig. The Barangays of Malinao, Bambang,
Palatiw and Tipas were awarded by Legaspi to one of his trusted Lieutenants, Don Juan Dela Isla on
November 14,1571 when the Pasig mission was made a Parish under the jurisdiction of Tondo on
January 20,1572 it only stated 10 Visitas namely:hanggang sa pangongontrata ng trabaho.These
four barangays were derived from the name of the Olive Tree and the original name of Palatiw was
Palatia.

The patron of Palatiw was San Agustin of Hippo (Aurelius Agustinus) who was born on November 13,345
AD in Tagaste Algeria. He died Aug. 28, 430 at the age of 76 years. Today he is considered one of the
four Doctors of the Church because of his writings and teachings. When the second world war broke
out, Palatiw was fortified by Japanese soldiers, which bombed it during the Liberation. Like the tailoring
of ready -made clothes. The home industry of MARIA SUAREZ, ROSARIO RAMOS, MAXIMA STA ANA-
GALUTERA, CARIDAD RAYMUNDO, JESUS CHIANGCO and many others. Later, iron works were
introduced in the village of TIRSO CANSANA. Mr. Cansana was the first to set up a workshop in the
village and shared about the intricacies of this business. He did not become stingy in teaching all those
wants to make a living, his knowledge and becomes creative from design .
III. Demographics
The household population of Palatiw in the 2015 Census was 18,344 broken down into 4,126
households or an average of 4.45 members per household.
The population of Palatiw grew from 13,374 in 1990 to 27,499 in 2020, an increase of
14,125 people over the course of 30 years. The latest census figures in 2020 denote a
growth rate of 8.88%, or an increase of 9,143 people, from the previous population of
18,356 in 2015.
POPULATION BY AGE GROUP
According to the 2015 Census, the age group with the highest population in Palatiw is 5 to 9,
with 1,873 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest population is 80 and over,
with 110 individuals.
Combining age groups together, those aged 14 and below, consisting of the young dependent
population which include infants/babies, children and young adolescents/teenagers, make up
an aggregate of 30.18% (5,539). Those aged 15 up to 64, roughly, the economically active
population and actual or potential members of the work force, constitute a total of 65.75%
(12,069). Finally, old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and
over, total 4.07% (748) in all.
The computed Age Dependency Ratios mean that among the population of Palatiw, there are
46 youth dependents to every 100 of the working age population; there are 6 aged/senior
citizens to every 100 of the working population; and overall, there are 52 dependents (young
and old-age) to every 100 of the working population.
The median age of 25 indicates that half of the entire population of Palatiw are aged less than
25 and the other half are over the age of 25.
