Question 1
In this question, you are required to make a review of two websites. The
websites belong to University of Zimbabwe and Midlands State University
You are required to review the two websites and evaluate how each
website’s design incorporates the usability goals, user experience goals and
design principles. The links to the two websites are provided below:

a) Identify and write down any three good and three bad aspects for
each website. Provide screenshots for all the aspects identified and
briefly justify all your comments. The aspects identified should be
distinct for each website. [6 Marks]
b) You are required to interact with the two websites and discuss your
experience as a user. With aid of screenshots specify three
interaction activities leading to the elicitation of three specific types
of information from these websites. State and discuss three problems
you have encountered and your user experience while gathering the
three specific types of information. [6 Marks]
c) Compile a set of five Usability and User Experience goals (three
usability and two user experience or vice versa) that you think will
be most relevant in evaluating the two websites from part (a). Decide
which one of the goals is the most important for the evaluation and
provide justification for your decision. [10 Marks]
d) Select a set of three usability and user experience goals from the list
you identified in part (c) above and translate them into three specific
questions. Select either 1 user experience or 2 usability goals or vice
versa. Use the three questions to assess how well each of the
websites fares and provide brief justification for all comments. [15
Marks]
e) Select three design principles that you think will be most relevant in
evaluating the above websites and provide justification for your
selection. Decide which one is the most important design principle
from your selection and briefly explain your decision. [10 Marks]
f) Translate three design goals selected in part (e) into three specific
questions. Use the three questions to assess how well each website
fares. Provide brief justification for all comments (15 marks)
g) Based on the problems identified in part (d) and part (e), select one
design issue from each website, and suggest and discuss possible
improvements to the interface of each website. Your answer should
include two hand sketches for each improvement. State the design
principle(s) each improvement aims to satisfy. Provide justification
for all design decisions. [23 Marks]
