Note: Paints used are primarily from The Army Painter range

HOW TO PAINT SERIES


NAZGÛL

UNDERCOAT:
Matt Black Spray

TIP: Paint Matt Black on the areas of the miniature that


the spray did not reach
NAZGÛL

CLOAK:
Necromancer Cloak
(AB)

The cloak was airbrushed at a high angle so some


TIP: black can be seen from underneath. Note you can
overbrush this stage with a large brush if you do not
have an airbrush for a similar result
NAZGÛL
METALS:
Gun Metal (B)

CLOAK:
Filthy Cape (OB)

The Filthy Cape layer was overbrushed with a


TIP: smaller brush, focussing on the outer parts of the
cloak - leaving the darker recesses
NAZGÛL
METALS:
Dark Tone (W)

CLOAK:
Matt Black (WD)

Water down some Matt Black and apply thin layers


TIP: into the recesses, this creates more shade to the
darker areas of the cloak
NAZGÛL
METALS:
Purple Wash (WD)

CLOAK:
Castle Grey (H)

TIP: Castle Grey was painted onto the cloak in thin lines
and built up to create a highlight layer

Plate Mail Metal (H)

CLOAK:
Filthy Cape (H)

The same process was used with Filthy Cape as the


TIP: previous stage, focussing mainly on the outer parts
of the cloak this time to create highlighted areas
NAZGÛL

Light Earth
Weathering Powder

The miniature was finished with a matt varnish


spray - this prevents the weathering powder
from coming off when the miniature is handled

A Light Earth weathering powder was used on the


TIP: cloak and built up in a couple of layers, you can also
use paint instead for a similar look
