PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a recently qualified commercial air diver having completed the Commercial Air Diving course
at The Underwater Centre, Fort Williams, Scotland. Through this course I have gained experience
in the use of sub-sea tools and of sub-sea operations generally. While undertaking the course I
took every opportunity to ensure my qualifications and experiences relating to air diving are as
comprehensive as possible (demonstrated below). I took the opportunity, among others, to
complete additional courses in first aid and power boating - which will assist diving work. Also
completed was preliminary training in NDT 3.1.
After leaving school I gained skills in carpentry and electrics, with the majority of my career
remaining in the construction industry, specifically the utilities sector. My position in this sector has
predominantly been a ‘hands-on’ supervisory role including the operation of construction plant and
machinery. The skills gained in this role are transferrable to off-shore diving: team working, working
under pressure to meet strict deadlines, delegation of duties to team members and leadership
skills.
I have long had an interest in commercial diving and am drawn to the water. I have however, only
recently had the financial means to gain the necessary qualifications to enter the field.
I embrace the work ethic, am a resilient character and willing to travel for work, ready to leave at
short notice.

INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
My hobbies are of an active nature involving keeping fit: mountain biking, swimming and scuba
diving. I also enjoy spending time socialising with friends and colleagues. Motor biking is a passion
and I regularly embark on trips to Europe. I hold a full UK driving licence and a motorbike licence.
I am periodically involved in fund raising events for a spinal injuries charity that my friend, who is a
tetraplegic, supports. Most recently we pulled my friend in an adapted wheelchair to the top (and
down again) of Snowdonia, the tallest peak in Wales.
