Instructions:

1) Get two similar foods or beverages with different preparation methods, one is homemade and
another is readymade food/beverage with nutrition facts label. [example: white bread gardenia vs
homemade wholemeal bread, homemade apple juice vs tesco apple cordial].
2) Compare the nutrient contents between two foods/beverages. You can use nutrition fact label to get
the nutrient content for readymade food/beverage. For homemade foods/beverages you can access the

3) Answer the following questions:

Using a food label of your choice, complete the following information.

a) Name of product (Refer attached picture of product): Sunquick Mixed Mango Cordial (1 marks)
b) Serving size: 165ml(1 mark)
c) Number of servings: 20 Glasses (1 mark)
d) Main ingredient in product: Mango Puree (1 mark)
3) With your label, find the following information about the macronutrients. (3 marks)

Grams of carbohydrate per serving : 13 Grams


Grams of protein per serving : 0 Grams
Grams of fat per serving : 0 Grams

f) Each of these nutrients supplies energy. Calculate the Caloric content from each nutrient, and then
determine the total Calories per serving. (4 marks)

13 Grams of carbohydrate x 4 Calories/gram = 52 Carb Calories


0 Grams of protein x 4 Calories/gram = 0 Protein Calories
0 Grams of fat x 9 Calories/gram = 0 Fat Calories
