ACTIVITY NO. 3
“Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?”
Guide Questions:
1. Describe the nineteenth-century Philippines as represented in the film.
As I watch the film "Ganito kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon," it features their that the
Philippines was in a Spanish colony during the nineteenth century. The film was
demonstrated that, the priests are influential at that time because they have a strong
connection with the Spanish people and the Spanish government as well as adequate
wealth. During that time, Filipinos were living in fear because of the cruelty and abusive
traits of the Spaniards to the Filipino people, which is why some of them sought to
escape in upland areas to hide to the Spaniards.
2. Based on your reading and class discussion, what can you say about the film’s
representation of the nineteenth-century?
. The film was so representation realistic because it shows here what are the things that
happened in the Philippines during the 19th Century and it was all about how cruel the
Spaniards to a local people/ “the Filipinos”. The unfairness of Spanish and the of slavery
of the Filipinos in Spanish government
3. What is the main question the film seeks to answer?
The film’s main question I think was all about asking Who really are the Filipino and why
are we able to be a slave of a Spaniard.
4. What is your own reflection based on the film and your understanding?
My reflection about the film Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon? Was it keeps on
reminding us up until now all the sacrifices of the Filipino people to fight for the Philippine
independence. The film was able to address the social problems of the time, such as the
abuse and mistreatment of Filipinos by the Spanish, the lack of education of Filipinos
living in neighborhoods and provinces, and also the struggle for the identity of the
Filipino people. I can understand more now as a young adult we can conquer the world
by exploring and understand differ the thing that happen in world. Before I was not that
exposed to the true state of our society and I just act like a student standing on the
corner waiting for something to happen. Today we're exulting the existence with an
excessive amount of democracy and freedom that's too manner extraordinary from what
they have been from the past.
