Light Weight Nonwoven Geotextiles
US Fabrics offers a complete line of lightweight nonwoven geotextiles made from
staple filaments of polypropylene fiber that are needlepunched and heat set.
Most lightweight nonwoven geotextiles (3 oz. To 5 oz.) are used as filter fabric in
subsurface drainage applications. High flow rates and small openings are what
make these geotextiles ideal as filter fabrics. Wrapping a nonwoven filter fabric
around the drainage system allows water into the drain while preventing soils
from clogging the system. They also provide the critical function of filtration in
green roof systems.
In addition to drainage, lightweight nonwoven geotextiles are often used as landscape fabric, weed
barrier or for lightweight separation under pavers.
Another use for lightweight nonwoven geotextiles is as asphalt overlay fabric. These particular
geotextiles are designed to hold tack coat and withstand extreme temperatures. Placing an overlay
fabric between the old asphalt and the new overlay reduces reflective cracking and extends the life of
the asphalt. A moisture barrier that protects the overlay from water intrusion is created when the
geotextile absorbs the tack coat.

US 115NW
Nonwoven Geotextile
US 115NW is a nonwoven needlepunched geotextile made of 100% polypropylene staple filaments.
Primarily used in drainage applications, this product prevents soil fines from entering the system
extending drain life and performance. US 115NW can also be used in lightweight separation
applications. US 115NW meets the following M.A.R.V. values except where noted:
Medium Weight Nonwoven Geotextiles
US Fabrics' medium weight nonwoven geotextiles are made from staple
filaments of polypropylene fiber and are needlepunched and heat set.
Medium weight nonwoven geotextiles (6oz. to 8oz.) are most commonly
used for erosion control. A nonwoven geotextile allows water to pass
through it while keeping existing soils in place.
In addition, nonwoven geotextiles can be used in separation/drainage applications.
The NRCS recommends using a nonwoven geotextile and stone (riprap) to protect stream crossings,
feeding troughs, watering ramps, feedlots and loafing areas.
Using a 7oz nonwoven geotextile as Cow Carpet® will provide better footing and create a healthier
environment for your animals.
US 205NW is useful as a recovery tarp to catch debris and paint chips as a result of cleaning or
repairing boats. This versatile fabric catches the debris, but allows water to pass through. Benefits
include cleaner pads from which to enter a boat, less debris underfoot and cleaner ladder rungs,
reducing pedestrian falls. You will also see a reduction of items such as nails and screws that can
puncture car and trailer tires. The result is significantly reduced runoff and suspended solids pollution
as well as much cleaner and safer facilities.
US 160NW
Nonwoven Geotextile
US 160NW is a nonwoven needlepunched geotextile made of 100% polypropylene staple filaments. This
product can be used under riprap; in drainage applications; or can be used for separation under roads,
driveways or parking areas. US 160NW will satisfy the requirements as outlined in AASHTO M-288-06
for Class 2 applications and meets the following M.A.R.V. values except where noted:
Heavy Weight Nonwoven Geotextiles
US Fabrics' heavy weight nonwoven geotextiles (10 oz. to 16 oz.) are made
from staple filaments of polypropylene fiber and are needlepunched and
heat set. A heavy weight nonwoven geotextile can be used as a
geomembrane cushion. Placing a nonwoven geotextile above or below the
geomembrane helps protect it from punctures.
Heavy weight nonwoven geotextiles are also used for railroad stabilization.
When placed under track, nonwoven geotextiles prevent intermixing of the
ballast with the soil below. The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way
Association(AREMA) recommends a 10-12 oz nonwoven geotextile for regular applications; a 12-16 oz
nonwoven geotextile for heavy applications; and a 16-20 oz nonwoven geotextile for extra heavy
applications.
Nonwoven geotextiles heavier than 16 oz are available. If your specification calls for a heavier
nonwoven, please give us a call. US Fabrics also offers Stall Mat, a 26 oz/sy nonwoven geotextile with
extra heat applied to one side to create a permeable, tough mat for usage in horse stalls.
US 300NW
Nonwoven Geotextile
US 300NW is a nonwoven needlepunched geotextile made of 100% polypropylene staple filaments. This
product can be used under riprap for erosion control; for separation in road and railroad applications;
and will act as a cushion in geomembrane applications. US 300NW meets the following M.A.R.V. values
except where noted:
Spunbond Nonwoven Geotextiles
US Fabrics offers a line of spunbond, nonwoven geotextiles in addition to our needle punched,
nonwoven geotextiles. Spunbonding is one of the most popular methods of producing nonwoven
fabrics. The first spunbonded, polypropylene fabrics were introduced in the 1960's. Considerable
advances in the technology have been made since its initial introduction. Spunbond fabrics are used in
the carpet, furniture, medical and geotextile industries.
The most successful manufacturer of these products is Typar®. As a result, all manufacturer's
spunbond products are often referred to as "Typar" as a group. US Fabrics SF line of spunbond
geotextiles are offered as equivalents to the Typar® product line.
The spunbond process is considered the fastest manufacturing method for nonwoven fabrics. As a
result, spunbonding is considered to be more economical than other manufacturing methods such
as needle punching staple fiber. Spunbond, nonwoven geotextiles are known for their superior tensile
strengths per weight. The spunbonded process results in excellent fiber distribution leading to very
uniform weights and physical properties.
US Fabrics SF line of geotextiles are nonwoven, spunbonded, continuous filament, polypropylene
geotextiles that offer the consistent quality expected of spunbond geotextiles.
US 32SF
Spunbond Nonwoven Geotextile
US 32SF is a nonwoven, spunbonded, continuous filament, polypropylene geotextile offering the
consistent quality expected of spunbond geotextiles. Primarily used in drainage applications, this
product prevents soil fines from entering the system, extending drain life and performance. US 32SF
meets the following M.A.R.V. values except where noted:
Paving Geotextiles
According to AASHTO, the number one cause of roadway deterioration is water saturating the subgrade
below the pavement. The FHWA states that up to two-thirds of the water that strikes an asphalt surface
passes through to the subgrade. Water softens the subgrade, reducing the structural capacity of the
pavement by as much as 60%. In fact, a pavement with a base that is saturated a little as 10% of the
time will only have half the life-span of a pavement with a dry base.
Paving fabrics are nonwoven, needle-punched polypropylene fabrics that have a forty year history of
improving pavement performance and extending pavement life. Properly installed, paving fabrics are
an important part of an overlay system that can:
1. Eliminate water intrusion through the asphalt
2. Slow reflective cracking
3. Increase the flexibility of the pavement system
US Fabrics offers two grades of paving fabrics: US 90P and US 100P which satisfies the AASHTO
guidelines for paving fabrics.

US 90P
Nonwoven Geotextile
US 90P is a nonwoven needlepunched geotextile made of 100% polypropylene staple filaments.
Primarily used in asphalt overlay applications, US 90P will act as a moisture barrier and will retard
reflective cracking when installed properly. US 90P meets the following M.A.R.V. values except where
