Teacher Leadership Goals
I will develop my leadership in Teaching and Learning in Mathematics
GOAL: Encourage student engagement in Algebra 2 practices to explain and understand the differences between
exponential growth and exponential decay.
OBJECTIVE: Develop and implement at least one error analysis each semester (long-term).
RATIONALE: Reflects new Illustrative Mathematics curriculum standards
(https://im.kendallhunt.com/HS/teachers/3/4/index.html ) emphasis on exponential functions and
equations.
NBPTS: Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to
students.
TLMD: Domain 4. Facilitating Improvements in Instruction and Student Learning. (long-term)
OBJECTIVE: Develop think-write-share pair opportunities in the classroom to help students collaborate and discuss
key ideas. (short-term).
RATIONALE: Use of DBQ (Links to an external site.) helps students read smart, think straight, and write
clearly.
NBPTS: Proposition 1: Teachers are committed to students and their learning.
TLMD: Domain 4. Facilitating Improvements in Instruction and Student Learning. (short-term)
TEACHER INQUIRY: I will develop my skills in teaching the EDP through my teacher inquiry.
I will develop my leadership in Student Assessment to receive important feedback and research.
GOAL: Use a variety of qualitative and quantitative assessments for school improvement, instructional/pacing
improvement, and enhanced student learning.
OBJECTIVE: In my Algebra 2 course, develop rubrics for scoring document-based questions for summative and
formative assessments (short-term).
RATIONALE: Use of NCTM (https://www.nctm.org/Standards-and-Positions/Position-Statements/Large-
Scale-Mathematics-Assessments-and-High-Stakes-Decisions/ ) to provide ongoing formative and
summative assessments in order to offer evidence of how well students are progressing toward
established learning goals.
NBPTS: Proposition 3: Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning.
TLMD: Domain 5. Promoting the Use of Assessments and Data for School and District Improvement.
OBJECTIVE: Develop group activity on online platform to monitor student learning. (long-term).
RATIONALE: Implements technology in the classroom as a source of student engagement
(https://journal.alt.ac.uk/index.php/rlt/article/view/836 ) emphasis on using feedback.
NBPTS: Proposition 4: Teachers think systematically about their practice and learn from experience.
TLMD: Domain 4. Facilitating Improvements in Instruction and Student Learning. (long-term)
TEACHER INQUIRY: I will develop my skills and understanding on how to better on analyzing student
feedback through my teacher inquiry.
