1.0 Introduction
Mechanization of agricultural production coupled with best agronomic management practices, aggregated
pieces of land or large farm sizes, market linkages and access to finance provides an opportunity for
growth of the agriculture sector while addressing high and intensive labor requirements. Agridrive
Limited (www.agridriveltd.com), a social enterprise operating in Kenya and Nigeria has provided
evidence that this intervention has the potential of increasing farmer yields up to 200%, doubling farmers
income, reducing drudgery and reducing production costs substantially.
Agridrive Limited is an agritech company working with farmers to unlock agribusiness opportunities in
Africa. It specializes in me mechanization equipment support, mechanization service provision,
agricultural input (seeds, fertilizers and herbicides), irrigation equipment and provide end to end
innovative market edge agribusiness solutions to farmers throughout the continent. Agridrive Limited is
owned by the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) www.aatf-africa.org though it is a
distinct and separate legal entity.
2.0 Agridrive Limited Proposal
We are proposing to provide your company Cassava Value chain with a holistic solution to their
agribusiness need for 300-hectare farm for cassava located in Oyo state. Our proposal is to provide your
establishment with mechanization services; ploughing, harrowing and ridging operations.
2.1 Our Approach
We will provide a systems approach to commercial cassava production. This takes into consideration use
of improved inputs, Good Agronomic and Technology Practice (GAPT).

Figure 1: Systems Approach to Mechanization

We propose to use a systems approach to ensure that we achieve the highest yield per ha. We plan to use
TME419 cassava varieties as these have high starch content and are good for mechanization due to their
architecture. We will use NKP 12:12:17 +mgo fertilizers. In addition, we will also use primextra, lagon,
gramazone, fusillade and touchdown herbicides for weed control. To ensure effective weed management,
we will apply post emergence herbicides to burn the grass before the commencement of first ploughing in
line with IITA weed management recommendations.
Our planters will be able to plant at 0.9 x 0.8 meters giving us a plant stand of at least 12,500 plants her
ha. Our aim is to do good field management to ensure that we reduce the weed so that we can be able to
get a minimum of 2kgs tuber per plant to average at least 25 tons per ha.

3.0 Implementation Plan

We are prepared to deploy our equipment within 8 days after payment of the agreed deposit and
mobilization funds.
Figure 2: Main Activities.

3.1 Equipment
To achieve this plan, we intend to deploy the following equipment shown in table 1 below:
Table 1: Equipment allocation

Name of Equipment Number

Tractors 75HP 4
Ploughs 3 – 4 discs 4
Harrows 18 – 22 disc 3
Ridger 3

The equipment allocation is based on the average hectarages that can be done by a tractor as shown
below:
4.0 Management of the Project
All leadership and communication of this project will be handled by George Marechera, The Agridrive
Limited Managing Director. Agridrive will have a dedicated Operation Manager for this project, who will
oversee that the project is implemented on time.
