PRE-TASKS
Asynchronous Learning

1. Identify at least one GSP Camping Standard for each category below:

a. Site- The site should be clean  and above flood level and away from 
danger places. It should be  safe place.
b. Building-The building must have an Emergency Exit plan.
c. Health and Safety-When food service personnel have questionable
symptoms, especially those associated with the gastro-intestinal track,
keep them away from food preparation until appropriately improved.
d. Food and Food Service-Make certain that food service staff know and
implement safe food handling practices.
e. Equipment-Socks with sturdy shoes, hiking boots, or sneakers (no
sandals, clogs, flip-flops, or bare feet)
f. Provisions for Emergency-Ensure that girl and adult participants
receive information about first-aid procedures and emergency and rescue
procedures
g. Camp Proper-Leave No Trace method of camping, which involves
leaving a campground the way it exists in nature, free of garbage and
human impact.

2. Why is it necessary for Troop Leaders/Adult Leaders to have adequate and proper
training, and to work on their Camping Qualifications?
 During the camping proper, the readiness of the Troop Leader will be challenged.
Proper camping training must be acquired first to ensure the safety of the troop. Always
ready to attain whatever things happen in the camping.

3. Give words or phrases describing your readiness and confidence in bringing your girls to
a Troop Camp.

“Experienced but unprepared”.


I can assure of myself that I am somehow knowledgeable in terms of basic survival techniques
and first aids. But I am not yet prepared on bringing girls to a Troop Camp. I still have more
things to acquire first before engaging myself to such responsibility.

4. Identify the Basic Skills in the Out-of-Doors.


 Choose from among the camping equipment used in the usual Girl Scout camps
that best represents you as a Troop Leader/Adult Leader. Be ready to show
it among the group during the session (plenary/breakout) on Camping Skills,
either by bringing a piece of actual equipment or by a show of a photo. You
should be ready to share your thoughts in less than a minute.
Protects you from the various weather conditions. Protects you from wild life if you’re camping.
Provides cover from the wind and rain. Can be uses as shelter for temporary accommodation. They
provide flexibility and versatility when camping or climbing mountains or cycling. Tents protect you
from mosquitoes, gnats and other biting insects while sleeping

 Prepare three pieces of straight sticks and cord (at least 12 inches in length) for
the practice of tripod making during the session on Camping Skills.

5. As a Troop Leader/Adult Leader, what are your aspirations towards the development of
your girls, especially in their outdoor experience?

 Being a troop leader is a challenge a responsibity towards my girl scout in companion,


my aspiration as a troop leader towards the development of my girls is for them to learn
the outdoor activities. I want every one of my girls to learn to conquer their fears, take
healthy risks and holistically equipped and make decisions on their own. To gain
camaraderie to the people and able to adjust and adapt the environment within.
