Role-play #1: Saving Energy

Student A: Hello
Student B: Hi
Student A: How are you?
Student B: I am fine, and you?
Student A: Not good
Student B: why what's wrong with you?
Student A: Well, our electricity bill is really high this month
Student B: That's terrible, how much is the electricity bill?
Student A: This month's electric bill was $145.
Student B: What? that's a lot of money.
Student A: yes, it is a lot of money, and I don't know how to save energy?
Student B: I know how to save energy; can I give you some advice?
Student A: Yes please.
Student B: maybe we could use energy saving light bulbs in our house.
Student A: that's a good idea. And what do you think about electrical appliances?
Student B: yes, we have to disconnect all electronic devices when they are not being used
Student A: okay what else should we do?
Student B: we have to turn off the lights during the day and when they are not being used.
Student A: All this are a good advice, but how can we save water?
Student B: we can turn off the faucet when we are brushing our teeth and we can use the
washing machine to the maximum.
Student A: Yes, and we can also dry the clothes outside the house. And you know what
renewable energies are?
Student B: yes renewable energies are clean energy sources such as solar panels.
Student A: oh yes, solar panels, wind, and solar energy.
Student B: All of these are renewable energies.
Student A: ok thanks… for the advice Now we're going to save energy.
Student B: You're welcome.

Student B: Yes, I am.
Student A: where are you from?

Student A: Oh, that's good. Are you enjoying your stay here in Honduras?
Student B: Yes, I love everything about Honduras, it is a very beautiful country.
Student A: I like that. and how long have you been here?
Student B: since December of last year.
Student A: and where have you been staying?
Student B: I am living in a small apartment here in Tegucigalpa.
Student A: and What places what you visited in Honduras?
Student B: I have traveled a lot in Tegucigalpa, I have gone to the beaches of Ceiba and
places like Comayagua.
Student A: wow that's amazing. What do you like about staying here?
Student B: I like its food, its culture and the people who are very friendly.
Student B: And what do you like most about Honduras?
Student A: I like how quiet it is, I like foods like baleadas and pupusas. and travel places that
I do not know of Honduras.
Student B: that's very well
Student A: and have you done anything else?
Student B: well, I have visited public places like parks, shopping malls.
Student A: but do have you had problems speaking Spanish?
Student B: yes many, could you give me some advice to improve my Spanish?
Student A: good advice is to talk and practice with people, you could also read books in
Spanish.
Student B: I am afraid to make mistakes.
Student A: well don't worry about it. If you practice every day, you will no longer be afraid.
Student B: thanks for the tips
Student A: you're welcome. and have a good stay in Honduras

Student A: I am very well. Do you remember what school you study at?

Student B: I have had around ….. years of education. And you?
Student A: I think I have had around … years of education counting university.
Student A: Did you enjoy your pre-school days?
Student B: Yes because.... and you?
Student A: I don't remember much from my preschool, but I think I liked it a lot. What
activities do you remember doing in your preschool years?
Student B: paint, draw, cut and play, and you?

Student A: soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, ping pong and chess but I could never
