Front Panel
10/100/1000 Copper Ports
10G S F P + Ports
• The Copper ports work as passive TAPs during power loss (G1<>G2; G3<>G4; etc.).
• When the system is powered on, the copper ports can be used for tapping purpose or as
span ports.
• The SFP+ ports can be used as Network & Tool ports.
First Start
• Connect to the EXA8 via a web browser.
• Change the IP address configuration according to your requirements.
• Default login:
– IP 192.168.0.200/24
• Define Port Settings.
• Define Functionality (Tapping Sessions, …).
Web GUI Start-UP Screen
• After logging in, the Web GUI shows general information, like serial number and software version.
Device Configuration
• Use these three buttons to either:
- save the current configuration
- recover the last saved status
- reset the configuration to the factory default status
Port Configuration
Navigate to “Ports” → “Port Configuration” to setup the network and tool ports
• G1 – G8: 10/100/1000 Base-T Network ports.
• X1 – X2: 10Gbit Tool ports.
• Bridge: DPDK interface (interconnection between the copper and SFP+ ports).
Port Statistics
Navigate to “Ports” → “Port Statistics” to show the throughput and total packet count per interface
Aggregation
The EXA8 can do port aggregation for specific copper interfaces via the 10Gbit tool ports
• Define one “tag” for each network port.
• Choose which “tag” should be forwarded to which tool port.
• It is possible enter multiple aggregation tags (separated by a space).
Enable/disable whether the interface tag should be
pushed as a V L A N tag onto the traffic.
Aggregation - Example
Requirements:
• Traffic coming in at Port 1 to 4 (Link #1 & #2) should be aggregated to interface X1.
• Also, traffic coming in at port 5 to 8 (Link#3 & #4) should be aggregated to X2.
• The traffic on the tool ports should have a VLAN assign which tells from which tapped link the traffic comes from.
Tapping
Navigate to “Tapping” to set up the “Tapping Configuration”
• A Tapping Session consists of one or multiple source interfaces and one destination interface.
• In total 12 Tapping session can be deployed simultaneously.
• Warning! These session allow active tapping only, during power loss, these settings are not valid.
Select the Tapping Session to configure
Select one or multiple sourceinterfaces Select one destination interfaces
Default
configuration
Use “Clear” to delete a Tapping Session
Tapping - Example
• Requirements:
- Tap one link which is connected to G1 and G2.
- Forward a copy of this link to the tool port X1.
- (The Bridge interface is the interconnection between the network ports and the tool ports).
User Management
Navigate to “Settings” → “User” over the top bar to enter the User Management settings
• In this interface, a user with “admin” role is able to manage all existing users.
• Use “Create User” to add a new user. The access level can be set to “read” or “admin”.
• Each user can change his/her personal password.
• The user “admin” with the ID 1 can not be removed but the password can be changed.
Change the password of the current
logged user
Delete a user (only admins can do it)
IP Settings
N avigate to “Settings” → “IP S ettings” over the top bar to e dit the Management IP address se ttings ( IP,
Mask, Gateway)
Delete a user (only admins can do that) Change the password of the currently
logged in user.
Date & Time Settings
Navigate to “Settings” → “Date Time Settings” over the top bar to edit the time & date settings
• Choose between NTP time synchronization or static time settings.
• Define the local time zone.
• When choosing NTP, enter one or multiple NTP servers for synchronization.
• At the top message, the current settings, date and time will be displayed.
Date & Time Settings
Navigate to “Settings” → “Firmware Update” over the top bar
• Select the “EXA8-update-###.tgz” and press “Upload file” to start the upgrade procedure.
• Please wait for the “Update complete!” Pop -up.
• Warning! There are two different upgrade packages:
− EXA 8-update-xxx.tgz: The upgrade will take less then 2 minutes and the EXA8 will NOT reboot but you
may experience traffic interruption. This will take no effect to the Linux.
− EXA 8-update-rootfs-xxx.tgz: The upgrade will take about 5 minutes and the EXA8 will reboot once. This
procedure will overwrite the Linux filesystem and may reset custom changes of the OS.
