Checking the Error Logs
[1] Check the Error Logs. See Diagnostics, DG1883-1:
Section Procedure
Using the Diagnostics “Checking the Error Logs”

Important
If you see more than one error code for the same component or assembly, you might have to install new parts or do
adjustments.
[2] Do an evaluation of the error logs.

Checking the Scanning Operation

Important
You must check the scanning operation before you de-energize the system.
[1] Observe the scanning operation for all sizes of CASSETTES.
[2] Make any necessary repairs before you do the preventive maintenance.

Checking the CMOS BATTERY

[1] Check the age of the CMOS battery by reading the replacement date on the label located on the PC. Replace
the battery if it is 5 or more years old.
[2] If there is no date label indicating the last time the CMOS battery was replaced, determine the approximate age
of the CMOS battery by referring to the manufacture date on the data plate of the CR Scanner and to the
following table of computer implementation dates:
Computer Console Model Implementation Date
8187-Q9U 2004-11 (November 2004)
8187-SEU 2005-03 (March 2005)
8212 2006-04 (April 2006)
8810 2007-10 (October 2007)
HP 5700 2008-12 (December 2008)
HP 5800 2012-09 (September 2012)

[3] If the battery is less than 5 years old, attach a label to the computer console, and write the manufacture date
found on the data plate of the CR Scanner or the implementation date listed in the previous table, whichever is
more recent.

Note
Attach the label in a discreet place, but where the FE is likely to see it during the next PM visit.
[4] Replace the CMOS battery if it is 5 or more years old. Add a label to the PC with the replacement date. See:
