Topic: Social Media Overuse
Problem under study: The researcher wants to measure if there is correlation between low
grades in school and social media overuse.
Variable 1: low grades in school
Low grades in school might bring a lot of impressions. One researcher might say that low
grades means a failing one, while the others might say that a low grade is below average. In
order to understand the results of the research, we will need to know how this researchers
define low grades in school. For the sake of understanding, researchers define low grades in
school as grades below the average.
Variable 2: social media overuse
The variable social media overuse might be misunderstood by others. In order for it to be esay
to comprehend, the researchers must state what they meant about overuse. They may narrow it
down by saying that social media overuse is a type of addiction which one is very dependent to
social media. Or they might decide that the meaning of social media overuse is too much or
excessive use of social media. For the sake of this example let us say that the researchers
chose the latter.
