PASON
Electronic Choke Actuator
Designed to regulate the rate at which excess gas pressure is
bled out of the manifold, the Pason Electronic Choke Actuator
provides a means of remotely controlling the choke valve. Its
exemplary service record sets a precedent for high reliability, low
maintenance, and ease of installation. The Pason Electronic Choke
Actuator is lightweight and installs easily, using the rig’s standard
110 or 220 volt power supply.
Function
The Pason Electronic Choke Actuator mounts easily on Willis
M2 or M3 ¼ turn choke valves. Operated from the doghouse
or other remote locations where a controller is installed, the
Pason Electronic Choke Actuator’s cables connect to the Pason
Technology Electronic Drilling Recorder (EDR). Once connected, casing
pressure signals are transmitted from the manifold to the Pason
EDR. The Pason EDR displays parameters including choke
position, strokes, total strokes, pump displacement, pump rate,
standpipe pressure, and casing pressure. In the event of loss
of power, the Pason Electronic Choke Actuator allows for
manual override.
Features
•Fits almost anywhere due to the device’s compact design.
Deployed
• Lightweight control box can be wall-mounted.
• Single electronic cable replaces cumbersome hydraulic
lines and air hoses, thereby eliminating freezing and leaking
problems.
• Uses standard 110 or 220 volt power supply.
• Ties directly into the Pason EDR.
• Virtually maintenance-free.
• Proven dependability in critical well control situations.

Components
Actuator:
Contains an electronic motor that opens and closes the
choke valve. It is installed on the existing choke valve
located in the manifold shack.

Mounting bracket:
Holds the electronic choke actuator to the existing
DHC PIT BULL L.E.L. DEPTH CHOKE A.C. IN SUB J-BOX
Casing sensor:
Detects casing pressure and provides input to the
Pason EDR.
Control boxes:
Opens and closes the choke valve and displays valve
position. It is typically installed in the manifold shack
and/or the driller’s console.
Cables:
Connect the casing sensor, control boxes, and actuator
together. They also connect to the Pason EDR Junction
Box, if present.
