Background
Students of Jamaica College have always been able to improve or practice their exercise
habits at school as they are able to have access to the gymnasium for relevant sports, and can do
their exercise habits. However, since the pandemic, schools in Jamaica had to resort to online or
remote learning due to the excessive cases of Covid 19 rising. Therefore; students of Jamaica
College are not able to have access to the school’s gymnasium as they had to keep in accordance
with the rules set by the Government. The researchers picked this issue because they perceived it
as a severe problem for themselves and other Jamaica College students, and they were curious
about the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the exercise habits of Jamaica College students
aged 15 to 17. The researchers have a basic understanding of the problem's effects on the
students, as it can force them to shift their workout routines. The researchers want to discover the
effects of the Covid 19 pandemic on the exercise habits of the students, as well as remedies that
may be applied to address the problem at the school at the conclusion of this study.
Statement of the Problem

Method of Investigation
For their SBA topic, the researchers will be using a survey. A questionnaire will be used as their
inquiry technique for their SBA and a questionnaire is a collection of written questions with
several options for responses. Cost savings, easy access to people, data quality, and scalability
are some of the benefits they will use for this issue. In total, there were ten (10) questions on the
questionnaire. On the questionnaire, there will be eight (8) closed-ended questions and two (2)
open-ended questions and allocated 15 responses. Several benefits are associated with using a
questionnaire. Such benefits are: it does not require a name from the respondents, it is not time-
consuming, questions are very direct and straightforward and it can be at the accessibility of the
persons required to have it completed. The instrument of investigation which is being used is
best for the intended respondents because the researchers found it most suitable for the directed
respondents and it is very simple and all the respondents are capable of responding accordingly.

Analysis and Interpretation of Data
The research looking at the investigation on the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on exercise
habits of males between ages 15-17 of Jamaica College conducted on September 30, 2021
analysis of data will be done. In Figure 1, which is reflecting the different age groups of
individuals of Jamaica College 60% percent of respondents were 16, 26.7% were 17 and the
remaining 13.3% were 15. It was important to present this data reflecting the different age
groups of individuals of Jamaica College; this will aid in providing effective answers to the
situation of Exercise Habits.
Figure 2, which is reflecting the different grades in which the respondents are in. 93.3% of the
respondents were in grade 11 while the remaining 6.7% was in grade 10. It was significant to
present this data reflecting the different grades of individuals of Jamaica College; this will aid in
providing effective answers to the situation of Exercise Habits.
Figure 3, which is reflecting the different days that the respondents exercise before the pandemic.
46.7% of the respondents worked out 4-5 days per week. 40% of the respondents worked out 2-3
days per week and the remaining 13.3% a day per week. It was significant to present this data as
it is reflecting the different days in which the respondents exercise; this will aid in providing
effective answers to the situation of Exercise Habits.
Figure 4, which is reflecting the different days that the respondents exercise during the
pandemic. It can be seen that 40% of the respondents worked out 2-3 days per week during the
pandemic as well as a day per week. The remaining 20% 4-5 days per week. It was significant to
present this data as it is reflecting the different days in which the respondents exercise; this will
aid in providing effective answers to the situation of Exercise Habits.

46.7% of the respondents chose unfitness as an effect of lack of exercise. 33.3% of the
respondents chose laziness 13.3% of respondents chose obesity and the remaining 6.75 chose
excess body fat. It was significant to present this data as it is reflecting the different effects on
the respondents due to lack of exercise; this will aid in providing effective answers to the
situation of Exercise Habits.
Figure 6, which is reflecting if the pandemic has affected the respondents in a negative way. It
can be seen that 66.7% of the respondents said that the covid 19 pandemic has affected them in a
negative way while the remaining 33.3% said No. It was significant to present this data as it is
reflecting if the Covid 19 has affected them in a negative way; this will aid in providing effective

Conclusion
In conclusion, it can be seen that for most students of Jamaica College, their exercise routines
had to be rescheduled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This SBA has helped you to realize the
negative impacts of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the exercise habits of males between ages 15-17
of Jamaica College. It was seen that most individuals suffered laziness due to a lack of exercise.
They mainly suffered from unfitness due to the Pandemic. Although this pandemic situation has
led to the unexpected cessation of almost all the outside routine activities of all the individuals, it
has profoundly hampered the physical activities of fitness freaks who regularly go to the gym for
their physical fitness, as gyms and other such places have been shut down. From our research,
we have learned a lot about our study area, why students of Jamaica College are frustrated. The
consequences of this lack of exercise, and also strategies/measures implemented to reduce/solve
these problems.

Reflection
This completion of this School Based Assessment was beneficial as it allowed me to be
adequately better aware of how Covid-19 pandemic has negative impacts on exercise habits of
males between ages 15-17 of Jamaica College. I was also aware that the social impact had a large
effect on life in Jamaica. My research skills were reinforced as I perused articles that supported
the topic that was scrutinized. To put forward, I had to read for information, identify how it
actually affected students of Jamaica College as well as process my insight based on the
evidence that was identified. This research has also allowed me to become a more intuitive
person due to the fact that I am now able to give a summary about Covid-19 pandemic has
negative impacts on exercise habits of males between ages 15-17 of Jamaica College as well as
enabling me to make commendable decisions upon reading the impact on the students. This SBA
has helped me to improve critical thinking skills, to build up on my vocabulary, help my
researching and reasoning skills, and help me improve my grammar. Furthermore, this research
has aided me to correspond with my group members via WhatsApp to share several ideas upon
the topic that was chosen.
