Calculation of % Voltage Regulation for 33 KV (Old Udhwa) Tinpahar feeder (Dog)

emanating from 132/33 KV Rajmahal GSS, upto tapping point of M/S Swastik
Mineral Agency at Near Nimghutu Village Taljhari, Rajmahal, Sahibganj
With reference to SLD as in Annexure A

Length of Line (L) (A-B-D) = 9.2Km (A-B=8Km,B-D=1.2Km)

Demand / Load of Consumer (P) = 1501 KVA

Supply Voltage (Vs) = 33 KV

Resistance of ACSR Dog Conductor (R) = 0.2792 Ω/ Km

(VS – VR)
Voltage regulation = X 100
VR

Where,

VS - Sending End Voltage at 132/33KV GSS

VR- Receiving End voltage at consumer
Vsɸ = VRɸ + VDɸ

Where,
VDɸ = Voltage drop per phase from point A-B and B-D

VDɸ = IAB (RAB cos ɸR + XAB sin ɸR) + IBD (RBD cos ɸR + XBD sin ɸR)
Annexure- B

Where,
IAB = Current between A and B = 202 Amp
RAB= Resistance between A and B
XAB= Inductive reactance between A and B
IBD= Current between B and D = 27 Amp
RBD= Resistance between B and D
XBD= Inductive reactance between B and D
Considering Power Factor = 0.9, cos ɸR = 0.9, sin ɸR = 0.435

Resistance of ACSR DOG conductor = 0.2792 Ω per K.M

Inductive Reactance X is calculated below:-

X = 2πfL

where, L is inductance of 33KV line

L = 2 x 10−7 ln d/r’ H/m
Where, d = spacing between conductor which is 1525 mm
14.15
r’ = 0.7788 X r r = radius of conductor is 2 = 7.07 mm
r’ = 5.5m
1525
L = 2 x 10−7 ln H/m
5.5
= 11.2 x 10−7 H/m
X = 2 x 3.14 x 50 x 11.2 x 10−7 x 10−3 H/Km
= 0.35 H/Km
Hence, VDɸ = 202 (0.2792 x 8 x 0.9 + 0.35 x 8 x 0.435) + 27 (0.2792 x 1.2 x 0.9 + 0.35 x 1.2 x 0.435)

VD ɸ = 663 Volts
33000
VR ɸ = √3
−663

= 18389 Volts
Voltage Regulation = ¿ ¿

663
= x 100
18389

Voltage Regulation = 3.6%

Conclusion: The voltage regulation on addition of 1501 KVA load to the line shall be 3.6% which is
under permissible limit.
