The following provides additional information on the available free AFAA courses for those students
who elect to start studying either the Personal Training Course or the National Certificate in Fitness
as part of the Physical IQ Kickstarter Course offering.
Fighting Obesity:
A Practical Approach Continued Education – 0.7 NASM CEUs
According to the scientific research, obesity has reached epidemic proportions. The World Health Organisation
(1998) calls it "globesity," and says that weight problems are so common they will soon replace under-nutrition and
infectious diseases as the most significant contributors to poor health. In many ways, our industry has failed the
overweight and obese. As fitness professionals, we will be challenged with finding ways to effectively work with this
ever-growing population. This online video workshop focuses on providing fitness professionals with the knowledge,
tools and fundamental skills necessary to meet this challenge of working with the larger-sized participant. The
curriculum includes theoretical review and practical applications suitable for the large-sized, overweight and obese

This online video workshop focuses on practical techniques for teaching group exercise classes. No matter what format a fitness
instructor is teaching, the skills inherent for overall successful group instruction remain the same. Group Exercise: The Practical Way™
focuses on what it takes to be an effective, safe and outstanding group exercise instructor. Participants will experience a variety of

Midlife Fitness For Women

This online video workshop provides the fitness professional with up-to-date information on the physiology of
women during and past midlife, including the stages and symptoms associated with menopause, and the long-term
effects of estrogen deficiency (e.g., osteoporosis and heart disease). In addition, you will learn several excellent
strategies that apply to exercise programming as it relates to the accompanying effects of menopause. No exercise
