Yuzu Setup Guide

Welcome to the Yuzu Emulator Set Up Guide!

This guide will attempt to cover all the Necessary Steps to get your Favorite
Nintendo Switch Games running in no time!

Links of the sites to get Yuzu Early Access builds, Sineater's Auto Updater and
prod.keys file will be added right below the corresponding Step Number. Some links
are encrypted using Base64. Go to https://base64encode.org/ to decode them.

If you have Questions regarding any of the Steps or you have an Issue, please let us
know and we'll gladly help!

LET'S BEGIN!
Step 1. Download the Latest Yuzu Early Access build from
https://pineappleea.github.io/ and extract the .zip file to your desired location.
New Early Access Builds should be up after a few minutes they become Available.

OR using Sineater's Yuzu Auto Updater:

Yuzu Updater 1.4.1 - Link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/bskvoqsokq4clld

Simply run Yuzu Updater.exe, select Latest or your desired version and hit Launch.
The Auto Updater will Download and Extract the File for you every time a new
version is available!
Step 2. Once you have downloaded and extracted Yuzu Early Access, run
Yuzu.exe so the necessary files and folders are created in

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\yuzu

Step 3. As soon as you run Yuzu.exe for the first time, you will see the following
Message:

This means that the prod.keys file has not yet been added to the Yuzu folder, and
you won't be able to see your Game List or run any games at all. Just hit OK and
CLOSE YUZU (Ignore the Yuzu Data Collection pop-up)
Step 4. Create a folder called "keys" in AppData\Roaming\yuzu and drag and drop
the "prod.keys" file. The Final route should look like this:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\yuzu\keys

Link for prod.keys:

Step 5. Run the Yuzu.exe again and the Message in Step 3 should be gone. Now
we're gonna add a Game to the list to check if everything was setup correctly.

Go to "File > Load Folder" OR "Double-Click to add a new folder to the game
list" and Navigate to the location of your game, select it and hit “Select Folder”

Your game should now be added to your Game List. (If you select "Load File"
instead of "Load Folder", the game will Launch WITHOUT being added to the Game
List)
Step 6. Before Running your Games, we're gonna change the UI Theme Color
and Game List Icon Size, and enable some Important Settings to get the best
Performance.

Go to "Emulation > Configure... > General > UI " and on the "Theme" option,
select the theme you like (Here you can find Dark Theme options).

On the same tab, under the "Game List" section, you can change the Icon Size for
your Game List and choose to show the Title Name or hide the ID if you prefer
(Select the "None" Option). Hit OK and your UI should look like this:
Step 7. Go to "Emulation > Configure... > General" and on the General Tab,
make sure that the "MULTICORE CPU EMULATION" Option is Enabled (Checked).

This option is Available after Yuzu Early Access 513-514 (Now also available on the
latest Yuzu Mainline Build) You can leave the "CPU" and "Audio" tabs with their
default settings.

Step 8. On "Emulation > Configure... > System" you can select your Game
Language, Region and Time Zone (Leave this in Auto if you want Yuzu to get the
Hour and Date from your System). On the Profiles Tab, you can set your own
Username and Profile Icon.
Step 9. Go to "Emulation > Configure... > Graphics” - These settings may
change depending on your Hardware, but for this Guide, i will use the most common
settings.

- OpenGL is the most popular API and can be used without issues in most games.
It's recommended to use it with “Disk Shader Cache” and “Assembly Shaders”
options enabled.

- Vulkan has better performance in a few games like Animal Crossing: New
Horizons or Paper Mario: The Origami King, but it needs a big Pagefile and
consumes lots of RAM, and you can also get some Graphical Bugs. Use it at your
consideration.

On the Advanced Graphic Settings tab, we're gonna set the Accuracy Level to
"Normal" for cards with less than 4GB of VRAM to prevent performance loss.
You can set this setting to High if you have more than 6GB of VRAM (This helps
remove some Visual Issues). I recommend leaving enabled Assembly Shaders and
Fast GPU Time, and disable Asynchronous Shader Building disabled because in
some games you may experience heavy Graphical Bugs.

Since Early Access 1001, Yuzu can now play (most) in-game cutscene videos.

Go to "Emulation > Configure... > Graphics" and make sure that the “Use NVDEC
Emulation” option is checked.
Step 10. If you right click any game on your Game List, you will see a menu with
different options, being the most important ones "Open Save Data Location" in
which you can find your Saved Game, "Open Mod Data Location" in which
additional files are stored that help adding extra features or fixing errors that are not
yet implemented on Yuzu, and "Open Transferable Shader Cache" which helps
reducing Game Lag and Stutters. All these files change per game, so please ask us
if you need any and we'll provide them.

You're almost done! If you want to play using a controller, go to Controls and click
Configure to set up your Controller or Keyboard. After that, run your desired game
and Enjoy!

Remember, if you have issues with the Emulator, Games or Files, don't hesitate and
ask for Help and we will gladly help you!

Thanks for Reading! Big thanks to the EmuWorld and Sineater's Discord server for
sharing the Yuzu Builds and knowledge that helped create this small guide.

Thank You! - Crayer
