Goals help you:
● Visualize what you want to achieve
● You can organize your ideas clearly
● Clarify the path ahead
● Build responsibility for oneself
● Focus on what is important
● Provide a source of motivation
Example: “I want to maintain C’s or better during the
second trimester”

Something you are trying to achieve:
● Goals can focus on ANY area of your life!
○ Physical, mental, academic, health, family,
attitude, interests, activities...
○ Goals do not have to be massive to have
meaning or purpose
○ Goals do have to MATTER to you. Your “Why”
directly affects how motivated you are to
achieve your goal.

Short Term Goals
● Goals thats can be completed within a short period of time,
such as a few days or weeks
● Example: “I would like to get all my missing assignments in by
the end of the week”

Long Term Goal

● Goals that are geared towards the future and can be
completed over several months or years
● Example: “I would like to end this trimester with all A’s and
B’s”

Short term goals assist in the achievement of long term goals. Why
do you think that is?

● To improve my grade in English to a B or higher, I will complete
all of the Amplify assignments, scoring at least a 92% on each
within the next 3 months.
● I will develop 5 new peer relationships by the end of the year with
people I’ve never interacted with at school before. I’ll do this by
sitting with an unfamiliar group of people at recess or lunch at
least once per month, and choosing different students to work
with to complete projects.
● For the next three weeks, I will pack a healthy lunch on Monday,
Wednesday, and Thursday.
