How to know when people lie
One of the things we are all exposed to is being lied to. Let's read the following curious
facts:
• In just 10 minutes of conversation it is likely that they will lie to us up to three times
• Extroverts lie more than introverts
• The more creative a person is, the more they lie
• Men tend to lie more than women
• The favorite means to do this is the phone because body language remains hidden.
• Where we lie least is by e-mail because we are afraid that it remains in writing.
Although studies show that human beings are able to detect when they lie to us 54% of the
time. It is worth knowing some tips to be able to identify it more clearly, such as those
presented below:
1. The direction of the eyes gives clues
According to NLP (neurolinguistic programming), when someone moves his eyes to his
right it means that he is lying, while if he moves his eyes to the left he is telling the truth.
However, the people who lie the most do not look sideways or look away. On the contrary,
they look at you more closely because they want to verify that you are believing their lie.
2. Signs on the face
The face can give us many signs, which we must take into account, some of them according
to an article published in Business Insider magazine, in 2021, are:
• Restless or elusive eyes: "If a person's eyes shy away from you, it means
that they are afraid to give you an honest answer"
• The lips disappear: "When someone hides their lips in such a way that they
are hardly visible, it usually indicates that they are repressing emotions,
facts, and truths."

• Anxious blinks: A person normally blinks about 5 or 6 times a minute, or
one blink every 10 or 12 seconds. If suddenly this number of blinks
increases, it means that the person has become nervous about something.
• Crocodile smile: If someone smiles at you, but there are no wrinkles
anywhere, it is a forced gesture, possibly to try to convince you of the lie
they just told you.
• A lot of sweat: The human being sweats when he feels stressed. So if the
face of your acquaintance begins to sweat for no apparent reason, it is that
something is hidden.
3. Pay attention to small details and behavior changes
When someone is lying, it is very likely that they will change their version of things over
and over again, so you must be very aware of this.
Women tend to be more adept than men at this because They simply pay more attention to
specific aspects of stories and behavioral changes.
4. Signs on the hands
Hands also provide us with a lot of information when detecting lies, for example covering
your eyes or mouth (to prevent the truth from coming to light) or trembling your hands.
5. Look at the words or expressions used when telling us something
The use of phrases such as "To be honest", "let me tell you the truth", "in reality", "I
really", "ehhhh", "hmmmmm" etc, indicate that something is wrong in what they are telling
us since when a person is genuinely sincere these types of expressions are not used.
