Why Do I Like K-Pop girl group TWICE?
How did it start?
Around April of 2018, my friend showed me a video of a celebrity dancing on stage to a cute song. I
remembered her wearing a white skirt and a bright pink cropped blazer. My friend suggested that we
should both learn the dance based off that video, and so we did! We spent
the rest of our afternoon learning the dance, figuring out which move comes
first and how to do it. Along the way, she introduced me to each member
and their roles. She told me who was the youngest, who had the best vocals,
but my mind was set on one person: the lady in the bright pink blazer from
earlier. Her name is Kim Dahyun. She caught my attention with her funny
personality and charisma. I found similarities within both of us, such as
similar birthdays, humour, likes and dislikes. The next day, my friend and I
showed our classmate the dance we learned. She ended up showing us how
to dance to the rest of the song after that (since we only knew the chorus). I
found myself taking a liking to that kind of dance, and for the rest of that
school year, I taught myself each and every title-track dance.
How has it changed me?
TWICE and K-Pop in general has changed my opinions and personality. Sometimes I wonder, what kind
of person I would have been in school if I had not found out about K-Pop? Would I still love to dance? I
feel like I would have gotten myself into trouble if it were not for the influence this group has given me.
This group taught me how to be humble and kind. It also inspired me to find my own fashion style. The
kind of clothing TWICE wears outside of their working hours are
so stylish. Most of my outfits have been made because of them! I
really appreciate how TWICE has changed my life and who I am.
Do I still listen to them now?
I have grown up, but that does not mean I do not like them anymore. I still wait for every upcoming
comeback and learn their dances. Although, I do not watch their interviews and shows as often anymore. I
have not had any time or interest to do so. I still love them with all my heart, though! I hope that they can
come to Canada so I can attend one of their concerts.
