1.1. Introduction
The MSS Transreceiver terminal can be used to send and receive short
messages from any stationary/moving platforms to a stationary Hub station through
MSS Transponder of Indian Satellite, which operates in S x C and C x S links. The
MSS Transreceiver terminal houses MSS transmit chain and MSS receiver chain
modules. MSS transit section uses S x C transponder of INSAT-3C satellite and the
MSS receive chain uses C x S transponder of INSAT-3C satellite. MSS
Transreceiver unit operates on 24V DC. The messages are sent/received using Tx-
Rx client software loaded in Tx-Rx workstation. Serial communication (RS-232) is
used to send data to/from the units to Tx-Rx workstation. Network diagram is shown
in figure 1.

The authorized users only can configure the transmit terminal. The following
parameters are configured from the TX-RX work station application:
Terminal ID (MID)
Frequency of operation (Channel number)
Message packet size (40/200)
Access type (TDMA/ALOHA)
The configuration will remain same even though the terminal is switched OFF and
can be modified by over writing on the old configuration. Graphical User interface
(GUI) shall be provided for selection of Terminal ID, frequency, message selection
and transmission.
