DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 6
I – OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The Learners demonstrate understanding of gravity and friction affect
movement of objects.
B. Performance Standards
The learners should be able to produce an advertisement demonstrates road
safety.
C. Learning Competencies
The learners should be able to infer how friction and gravity affect movements
of different objects. (S6FE-IIIa-c-1)
Explain the effects of friction.
Identify the desirable and undesirable effects of friction to object and people.

Person A will get down the hill the
quickest.

That is correct.
When we say resistance it is slowing or
stopping effect exerted by a material.
Now have you ever heard before the word

friction?
Explain: Friction is a force that resists the
motion of two surfaces that are touching
each other.
B. Explore
Base on the picture that I present to you
what do you think our lesson for today? Friction
Anyone?
That is correct we are going to study about
Gravity and Friction. With the learning
competencies, the learners should be able to
infer how friction and gravity affect
movements of different objects.
S6FE-IIIa-c-1
And at the end of this lesson you are
expected to Explain the effects of friction,
and Identify the desirable and undesirable
effects of friction to object and people.
C. Explain
Discussion…
Now, let’s talk about Friction.
Friction unlike gravity is a force between two
bodies which are in contact with each other.
It stops an object from sliding against a
surface or another object by acting in the
opposite direction of the sliding movement.
Take for example, a moving car. When the
driver wants to stop the car, he or she steps
on the brakes. The brakes apply force on
tires, causing friction to slowdown and stop
the tires.
Do you think friction is important? Why or It is important because it will help us
why not? to take control to the movement of
objects accordingly.
That’s correct.
Look at a stack of coin. Each coin “stick” to
the one beneath and the one above it
because of friction. This is why the stack
stays upright. When you try slowly pushing
the coin out of the stack, the coin will slightly
pull the stack along too. The ridges on each
coin also “interlock” with each other, helping
to prevent the coins from easily sliding off the
stack.
What do you think might happen to the coins The coin may remain to their position
if there is no friction? but a little move to the coins it may
fall apart.
The Effects Of Friction
- The force of friction opposes the motion
of an object, causing moving objects to
lose energy and slow down.
3 Effects Of Friction
Produce heat
It sometimes wore and tore things
It helps in making balance of
anything.
D. Elaborate
Let’s watch a video.

Watch the video and take note of importance Yes
topic because after that I will ask you about
the video.
Are you excited children?
*the children’s will watch the video in time of
5 minutes*
Answer:
Guide Questions:
1. What is the video all about? A1. Force of Friction.
2. What is friction? A2. Friction is a force that resists
3. What will happen to the objects on smooth motion when two things are in
surface if there’s less friction? And give contact.
example. A3. Less friction makes objects slip
4. What will happen to the objects on rough past each other easily.
surface if there’s less friction? And give Example:
example. You and the slide to enjoy the
5. Give at least 2 advantages and ride.
disadvantages of friction. We do not need friction to
play carom.
No need friction for bowling.
A4. Less friction on rough surface
does not let the objects move easily.
Example:
We need friction to walk on
ice or any smooth surface.
We need friction to open the
jar.
We need friction between
your hands and handle of the
bicycle to hold it firmly.
A5. Advantages:
Friction is very important
while driving a car. Without it,
a car would skid off the road.
Friction produces heat when
we rub our hands against
each other.
Friction between our shoes
and road, help us to walk.
Disadvantage:
Friction makes it difficult to
slide the heavy objects on the
floor.
Heat produced between the
moving parts of machine
cause damage.
Friction causes damage to
types of vehicles, soles of
shoes and many other things.
Very good students all your answers are
correct. And I’m glad and I hope you have
learned something new about this topic.
Now let’s proceed to the evaluation.
Evaluation
Direction: Write T if the statement is true and
F if it’s false.
