Type DUS
"Zero-Particulate" Filling Units

How It Works
The volume to be dispensed is pre-set by adjusting the
micrometer volume control on the Filamatic Filler. A rolling
diaphragm isolates the piston head from the cylinder wall,
thereby eliminating frictional contact between the two
components. During the in-feed cycle, the piston moves
downward, aspirating the product past the elastomer intake
valve and into the pump cavity. Vacuum applied to the
underside of the diaphragm maintains the proper
convolution, or "roll", to the diaphragm. As the piston moves
into the dispensing cycle, pressure produced by the moving
piston closes the intake valve and opens the discharge
valve. The piston distends the diaphragm into the cylinder
cavity, displaces the liquid and discharges the preset volume
from the nozzles. Automatic suck-back is provided by the
exclusive Filamatic DNP/R valve. The DNP/R case houses
an elastomer type valve. The elastomer valve opens under
pressure produced by the piston during the discharge stroke
and closes when the pressure is relieved, thereby sucking
back any excess product that might remain on the nozzle tip.
There are no frictional wear parts in the DNP/R valve. This
minimizes the possibility of particulate generation, thus
making it ideal for use in pharmaceutical applications.
