About the
KL Cup
Providing competitive 5- and 7-a-side international football
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia since 2016
Started in 2016, the Kuala Lumpur Cup (KL Cup for short) is a 7-a-side international
youth football tournament held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Targetted at competitive
junior teams from across the region, the cup aims to improve the opportunities for
inter-club football in Southeast Asia.
In 2020 the KL Cup featured over 130 teams and the tournament has hosted sides
from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China and Vietnam in its 6-year
history.
The KL Cup in 2022
Open to teams in 9 age-groups (Boys U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and Girls U10, U12,
U14 and U16), the tournament will take place across Ardence Arena, The New Camp,
UM Varsity, Stadium Panasonic and IGB International School. All venues provide high
quality artificial turf football facilities and are within 40 minutes of KL city centre.
Organised by the team behind Liga Suparimau, the former AirAsia KL Junior League
and the KL Invitational Cup, the tournament promises two days of exciting football
action at some of the region’s leading football centres.

The 2022 KL Cup will take place across multiple venues within 40 minutes drive of
the centre of Kuala Lumpur. All venues have full-size artificial turf pitches

Tournament
format
5-a-side and 7-a-side competitive football for
Boys and Girls from U8 to U16
The KL Cup follows a 2-stage tournament format, with Group stages on day 1
followed by Cup, Plate and Bowl knockout competitions on day 2.
All teams will advance to the knockout stages and will play approximately 6 to
8 matches across the weekend.
General Guidelines
Team size (U8/Girls 10/Girls 12): 5 players
Team size (All other age groups): 7 players
(Maximum registered players: 12)
Match length: 16 minutes
(No half time)
Offside rule: No offsides

The KL Cup will host competitions in 5 boys categories and
4 girls categories for players from 7 to 16 years old
Age group cut-off dates for the Kuala Lumpur Cup 2022 are listed below.
Please note, all players will be required to show their original IC or passport
before they can play.
Boys age groups
Under 8: Born January 1st 2014 and later
Under 10: Born January 1st 2012 and later
Under 12: Born January 1st 2010 and later
Under 14: Born January 1st 2008 and later
Under 16: Born January 1st 2006 and later
Girls Age Groups
Under 10: Born January 1st 2012 and later
Under 12: Born January 1st 2010 and later
