Chuwi Hi8 Dualboot Flash Tutorial (after May, 2016)

Preparation before flashing the Hi8 tablet:

1. Tablet with at least 50% battery level;

2. 8GB USB drive;

3. USB-OTG cable and HUB(more than three interfaces)

4. The USB keyboard as show in the picture.

Brush Step:

1. Please flash BIOS firstly, and then reinstall android. Finally reinstall

windows.(There is no need to flash BIOS if the OS crash. You can skip

the step of flashing BIOS);

2. Reinstall android will erase windows OS. When reinstalling android,

you can choose to remain windows or erase windows. If you choose

to erase windows, please backup important files in windows.

3. Reinstalling windows will have no influence on android.

I. Flashing Bios
Tip: There is no need to flash BIOS if you only reinstall OS. Flashing
wrong BIOS may brick your tablet.

Step 1

Format the USB drive into the Fat32 format and rename it as "WINPE";

Copy the sub-files in BIOS folder to the root directory of USB drive as

follows:

Step 2

Tablet connects OTG, and OTG connects HUB. plug the USB drive and

keyboard in the Hub as the picture shows:


Press power button to turn on the tablet. At the same time, please click

the "ESC" button continuously into the boot mode.


Step 3

After entering successfully Boot mode, Please choose “EFI USB Device”

and press “Enter” key to flash Bios.


Step 4

It will automatically access to the Android system when you finish

flashing Bios.

II. Reinstall the android


Tip: Install android programming tool in a windows 7 or windows 10

computer. If the computer is windows 8, please disable digital signature.

Step 1: Install Manufacturing Flash Tool (including three files)


You should install usb dirver (two files) and Manufacturing Flash Tool

(All files need to Right-click to run as the Administrator)

1. Firstly, install Intel Android Device USB driver

(IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0)

2. Secondly, install iSocUSB Driver (iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.2.0)

3. Thirdly, install Manufacturing Flash Tool

(ManufacturingFlashTool_Setup_6.0.51)

Step 2: Set Manufacturing Flash Tool

When you finished installation of the Manufacturing Flash Tool, pls set
Manufacturing Flash Tool following this method:

File – Setting - General Properties

Step 3

Choose the flash file of the Android Firmware(you download), start to

flash Android OS.


(1) To choose the file “flash” or “flash_no_erase_all”  (flash file is from

the Android Firmware file)


To choose “flash” will erase the Windows OS; To choose “

flash_no_erase_all” will keep the Windows OS;


(2) Connect tablet to computer when tablet show “Entering DnX mode.

Waiting for fastboot command…” then start to flash Android;


After choosing the file “flash” or “flash_no_erase_all”, long Press for

Volume + button then press for power button, and tablet will show

“Entering DnX mode. Waiting for fastboot command…” in the top left

corner. Then connect tablet to computer using data cable. And tablet will

start to flash Android.


PS: If tablet get stuck at 5%,7% or other conditions, pls copy

“CUSTOM_CONFIG” into the installation root of the Manufacturing Flash

Tool.
(3) After the flashing is successful, press the volume button to choose

“REBOOT” and then press the power button to confirm. Then the tablet

will reboot automatically into the system.


Finished!

III. Reinstall Windows system

1. Format the U disk into NTFS format and rename it as WINPE.

2. Open Windows 10 image folder ,then copy the sub-files to the root

directory of the USB drive.


3. The Tablet connects Hub and plug the USB drive and keyboard in the

Hub as the picture shows:

4. Press power button. At the same time, please click the "ESC" button

continuously into the boot mode as the picture follows:

press “ → ” key to choose the first row of second icons


5. Press the “↓” to choose “EFI USB Device”.

6. Press Enter key to start burning, When it is finished, the tablet will

shut off automatically as the show Figure:


7. The whole writing process need about 5 minutes to 10 minutes, the

specific time according to USB interface speed, this is my USB3.0,

burn in 5 minutes.

In the Ready Getting interface for five minutes then it will enter the

WIN10 system language interface, and then set their own good, and

Android will be retained.
