National Drug Use and Health survey results show that more than 19.7 million US
citizens aged 12 and older suffer from drug addiction. NDNHS found alcohol and substance
addiction problems in one out of eight people. 1.8 million people have both a psychiatric illness
and a drug dependency disease, which costs the American economy over $740 billion each year.
National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2003 The outcome is a dysfunctional household and a wrong
impression of narcotics in the minds of youngsters. National Study on Drug Use and Health
found that 138.3 million adults over 12 years old were frequent liquor consumers in a 2015 study
(Nies, 2019). Substance abuse is more common among teenagers and those with psychological
problems than among the general population.
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is a US agency dedicated to advancing
scientific understanding of the effects and factors behind substance abuse problems in the US.
Use this information to enhance the health of the general population. The agency serves to
address the fundamental concerns about drug misuse and react to and identify the rising patterns
of substance abuse in society. The institution also discusses how the substances affect the
intellect, physique, and diagnostic procedures and devise preventative and rehabilitation plans
for the substance abusers (Barber et al., 2001). Public-private alliances are an essential aspect of
NIDA's transmission strategy since it helps to fund research, promote professional growth, and
educate the public. NIDA aims to determine the various biotic and abiotic repercussions of
substance abuse and addiction throughout several lifespans by awarding contracts to researchers.
NIDA works in conjunction with the corporate world to educate the public about the
dangers of substance misuse and to avoid it. Persons with mental illnesses or schizophrenia
medications, particularly those who intensify psychotic signs, may benefit from working with the
NIDA and its clinicians to detect typical signs. Finding the person who cannot reduce or stop

their drug usage due to the cerebral effect that causes the health care community might do
substantial health issues. Nurses may record the complete recovery of drug addictions, even
when the costs are still modest, because of the growing lifetime drug abuse rates. In addition,
nursing may aid in identifying many aspects of drug dependence, as well as provide further
explanations for the development of habits and the impact of several drugs on the ailments they
cause. People who take drugs confront various challenges in their everyday lives, including
emotional upheavals, family strife, and legal issues, all of which may be helped by the healthcare
field.

Modern medical trials are doing new studies on the effects of marijuana usage on patients
with mental illness. There has to be a standard uniform measure for biology and self-report to
identify the initial degradation produced by drug usage since sobriety is not the only relevant
sign of therapy.
