Issue 02 (2017-09-01)
Issue 02 introduces improvements to the Flezi Zone Authentication Tool(FZAT), a
program used to establish a Bluetooth Secure connection with the Flexi Zone BTS in
order to open BTS Site Manager.
Issue 02 covers the following FZAT tool improvements:

• Cleaner and more user-friendly output.
• Logging of output to a log file.
• Masking of PINs and other sensitive information.
• Fixes for minor bugs and warnings.
• Windows 10 support.
• Automation for Windows 7 and above.

2 Bluetooth Connection - Overview

This quick guide is useful for "out of the box" WCDMA/LTE Flexi Zone Base Station
(BTS) installations where the Technician cannot easily connect the BTS Site Manager
(SM) PC to the Flexi Zone BTS for commissioning. For this reason, a wireless Bluetooth
connection is used. This quick guide assumes that the Flexi Zone BTS contains default
settings for the connection and assumes the latest version of the Flexi Zone
Authentication Tool (FZAT) is installed on the BTSSM PC.

This quick guide will step you through the following tasks.

• Verify initial conditions.
• Obtain sitedata.ini file (needed for Bluetooth pairing).
• Perform Bluetooth pairing.
• Establish Personal Area Network (PAN) with the Flexi Zone BTS and assign proper
IP address to the new interface.
• Open BTS Site Manager.
• Commission the Flexi Zone BTS.
• Close BTS Site Manager.

Refer to the Bluetooth User Guide for details related to Bluetooth variations,
troubleshooting, limitations, etc. which are deliberately not covered in this quick guide.

3 Verify Initial Conditions

Use this procedure to verify that all preparations for establishing a Bluetooth connection
from the BTSSM PC to the Flexi Zone BTS are met.

Verify the following conditions are met:
BTSSM PC:

• PC operating system: Windows (XP or later) with Microsoft Bluetooth stack. Class 1
Bluetooth device recommended for best range and performance.
• FZAT (1.6 or later) installed (bt_otp_pair.pl pairing tool).

g Note:  To make sure the context menu option “BtOtpPair(LegacyPair) as Admin” is
enabled for later use, do this now:
1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\NSN\Managers\BTS Site\BTS
Site Manager\tools and look for FZAUTHREL_v1_6_20170616_2 (or
later)]
2. If you do not see FZAT (1.6 or later), contact your customer care representative
for the latest FZAT installation directions.
3. Once FZAT (1.6 or later) is installed, run the 01Install.bat file.
4. Check again Java 6.0 (or higher) and Perl5 (ActivePerl or similar).

Flexi Zone BTS:

• Bluetooth interface is supported on WCDMA and LTE Flexi Zone BTS
• Installed with WCDMA15FZ MP2.0 (or newer) or LTE RL50FZ P8 (or newer).
• Installed with factory settings. This includes Bluetooth interface support enabled.
• Flexi Zone BTS xxxxSiteData.ini file - verify one of the following:
– QR code found on a sheet or sticker shipped with the Flexi Zone BTS. When
scanned later in this document, this provides the file.
– File already obtained from local CT representatives, or obtained previously from
the Flexi Zone BTS over LMP or Backhaul using FZAT (fzj FetchSiteData)
or manually copied to the user's folder of choice (other than the FZAT tool folder).

Bluetooth User Guide
The Bluetooth User Guide provides the details for using the Bluetooth feature, and
includes troubleshooting information. This document is available from the C:\Program
Files (x86)\NSN\Managers\BTS Site\BTS Site
Manager\tools\FZAUTHREL...\Docs folder.

4 Obtain Flexi Zone BTS Site Data

To establish a Bluetooth connection to the Flexi Zone BTS, you need its site data. Use
the following steps to copy the xxxxSiteData.ini file of the Flexi Zone BTS to the BTSSM
PC. If the xxxxSiteData.ini file has already been obtained, for example from local CT
representatives or by manually copying the xxxxSiteData.ini file using BTSSM over LMP
or BH, this procedure can be skipped.

Procedure

1 Obtain the xxxxSiteData.ini file. The steps below obtain the xxxxSiteData.ini file from the
QR code delivered with the Flexi Zone BTS.

3 Scan the Flexi Zone BTS's QR code using an application on a mobile phone or Windows
PC. Do not scan the image below! It is just an example.

QR code readers:
• On Android cell phone – QR Code Reader, QR Droid
• On iPhone cell phone - QRReader
• On Windows Mobile - Bar Code Lens

4 Send the scanned image via email to your company email address.

5 When the email arrives, copy the contents and paste it into a Windows Notepad file.

Before saving the file, copy the filename shown on the 1st line in parentheses (in this
example, 0017E9D9AD63_RY162006791_SiteData.ini).

6 Save the file in a directory your PC. The file can be saved anywhere on PC. When
prompted for the "Save as" filename, paste in the filename copied in the previous step (in
this example, 0017E9D9AD63_RY162006791_SiteData.ini).

5 Pair the BTSSM PC to the Flexi Zone BTS

Use the following steps to pair the BTSSM PC to the Flexi Zone BTS.

Procedure

1 Once you have the SiteData.ini file, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the file.

2 Right-click on the SiteData.ini file just saved in the previous procedure.

3 Select the context menu option BtOtpPair(LegacyPair) as Admin.

A cmd window will open and the FZAT scripts will execute. FZAT is saving the output
as log files which are located in FZAT_Directory\log.

g Note: For Windows 7 and above, the user is not asked to connect manually to FZAT. In
this case, go to step 6.

g Note: For some Windows 10 systems, the unit appears in Devices and printers

with a delay of 2 or 3 minutes, FZAT not being able to connect automatically.

4 Record the device ID given on your screen (FZM_1 in the above case).

The script pauses and the following Windows pop up dialog opens to initiate AP
connection:

5 Right-click on the new device matching the ID given in the script window and select
Connect using and Access point. If you see Access Point as in the following figure, this
indicates that pairing was succesfull and the user may attempt to establish a PAN
network on top of that.

g Note: Despite the warning that appears when establishing the connection with some
units, the user can successfully run FZAT, establish Bluetooth PAN connection and run
BTS Site Manager.

The Windows pop-up shows your Bluetooth Network Connection pairing is
successful (FZM_1 in this case). This means the user succesfully established the
PAN network. The FZATH should then be able to assign an IP address for that
interface. This will be verified in the next step.

6 Verify the IP address using ipconfig from a cmd window (192.168.255.243 in this
case).

To open a command window, click on Windows Start icon, enter run in the search
box and press Enter, enter cmd in the Open box, and click OK.

6 Connect to Flexi Zone BTS using BTS Site

Manager
Use the following procedure to open the BTS Site Manager and connect to the Flexi
Zone BTS.

Procedure

1 Open BTS Site Manager from Windows Start Menu:

2 Select IP address = Local.

3 Enter the User name and the Password and press Connect. For an uncommissioned
site, there are no alarm indications of an active Bluetooth connection.

4 The BTS Site Manager will now establish a connection, authenticate, and start the
correct (or closest) version of the BTS Site Manager for the Flexi Zone BTS. Once the
BTS Site Manager opens, connection by Bluetooth will be seen in the bottom left of the
window.

7 Flexi Zone BTS Commissioning - General

Steps
These are the general steps for commissioning an Flexi Zone BTS. These steps are for
customers that do not use Plug-n-Play. For more information on these steps, refer to the
Commissioning - Radio Network Configuration document.

Procedure

1 From the BTS Site Manager, select 'Commissioning' from the View Bar, and select the
appropriate commissioning type:

Sub-steps

a) Template commissioning provides the option to commission network elements
using a predefined template file.

b) Planned commissioning provides the option to commission network elements by
loading a commissioning file specifically made for the BTS site onto the Flexi
BTS and/or Flexi Transport sub-module.

c) Manual commissioning is used when no commissioning files are available.

2 Go through each commissioning page and select all relevent settings.

Detailed information on available commissioning settings can be found in BTS Site
Manager Online Help. For instructions on how to access the BTS Site Manager
Online Help, see About BTS Site Manager.

8 Disconnect from Flexi Zone BTS using BTS

Site Manager
Use this procedure to disconnect the Bluetooth connection to the Flexi Zone BTS,
remove the device, and close the BTS Site Manager.

Procedure

1 Close the BTS Site Manager connection by clicking on the Disconnect icon or by going
to File > Disconnect.

the icon and selecting Disconnect from device network:
