Types of Tourism and its Examples

1. Recreational Tourism
 My parents traveled to Japan to experience a new culture and see its beautiful places- it
is considered as Recreational tourism because it is done for pleasure and to have fun. Its
main purpose is to experience new things and for enjoyment.
 Enchanted Kingdom was one of my favorite amusement parks here in the Philippines- it
is also an example of Recreational tourism since you go to a place where you can enjoy
and for amusement.
2. Environmental Tourism
 One of my brother’s bucket list is to go to Africa since he is an animal lover, he wants to
experience walking with wild animals in safari-Environmental tourism involves flora and
fauna. In that example, the main attraction is the animals also known as fauna.
 Ayala Triangle Gardens- one example of a famous garden in the Philippines, located in
the middle of the city. Considered as environmental tourism because it showcases flora
or flowers and plants as main attractions.
3. Historical Tourism
 Rizal Park- one of the famous historical landmarks in the Philippines. Considered as
Historical tourism because it symbolizes an important event in the Philippines.
 Krus in Magellan in Cebu- Many people go to Cebu and visit the Krus ni Magellan, it
became historical because of the story behind the cross.
4. Ethnic Tourism
 Family Reunion at Bohol Beach Club- Example of Ethnic tourism because of attending
family obligations at distant places.
 I and my family are traveling to America to visit my Grandparents- Example of family
obligations and traveling to distant places.
5. Cultural Tourism
 Many K-Pop fans dream to go to Korea- One of the examples of cultural tourism because
they travel to experience other countries’ cultures, lifestyles, and art.
 Vatican City in Rome, Italy- Known as the Headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It
has a big factor in terms of religion and it also affects the culture in many places.
6. Adventure Tourism
 Calaguas Island in Daet- One of the hidden paradise in the Philippines, many adventures
to do and worth it to travel in. It was not yet fully developed and that’s the reason why
it makes a place exotic.
 Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland- is a great place to see the Northern Lights. One of the best-
isolated places in the world yet it can offer stunning views and perfect for adventures.
7. Medical or Health Tourism
 Some people in the region decide to move their patients in more reliable hospitals to
ensure that they can provide high-quality services- It is an example of medical or health
tourism because it concerns medical needs.
 St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City- Ranked no.1 Hospital in the Philippines, many
rich people tend to go to that hospital since it can provide high-quality services. Example
of Medical or Health Tourism.
8. Religious Tourism
 St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican- often called "the greatest church in Christendom". It is a
famous Catholic church that many people want to see because of their religion. They
travel to enhance their spiritual faith and renew their spirit.
 Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Quezon- Religious tourist spot in the Philippines, know for
Pilgrimage site because of the big image of Jesus.
9. Music Tourism
 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival- is an annual music and arts festival held at the
Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert.
Many famous people join the event to experience the fun and excitement through
music.
 Next summer I plan to go to Manila to attend the Concert of Sam Smith- This scenario is
one of the examples of Music tourism since the main purpose of travel is to attend a
music concert.
10. Village Tourism
 Cua Van Village, Vietnam- One of the unknow beautiful villages in the World, Situated
on an emerald green bay surrounded by mountains is the serene Cua Van, home to
beautiful and exotic marine life, caves and grottoes perfect for exploring, and a vibrant
village culture. Possible tourist attraction in Vietnam.
 Tam-Awan Village in Pinsao Proper, Baguio City- indigenous aesthetics and exquisite
Cordilleran craftsmanship with an artist’s concept for a village adapting to Baguio
setting. Perfect for new village destination.
11. Wildlife Tourism
 The Kruger National Park, Africa- walking safaris, making their rangers some of the most
experienced in the world. Accompanied by an armed ranger, groups can head out into
the wild on foot, for a truly unique look at the extraordinary wildlife in Africa. Extreme
encounter with wild animals.
 Whale shark in Donsol, Sorsogon- Donsol was marketed as the wild experience. Donsol
is one of the few places in the world that can offer almost assured whale shark sightings
from November to June. It attracts tourists because of its natural beauty and marine life.
12. Water Tourism
 Whitewater rafting in Davao- An extreme water sport that is perfect for adventurous
travelers. Whitewater rafting in Davao takes teamwork: rafters are briefed on
commands and safety regulations, drilled on proper paddling and rescue techniques,
then paired up with a boat buddy to maximize safety while negotiating the rapids.
 Urbiztondo Beach, San Juan Surf Resort in La Union- One of the best surf schools in the
country. Perfect for nature lovers and surfing. La Union is also known as “Surfing Capital
of the Northern Philippines”.
13. Space Tourism
 Russian Space Agency- orbital space tourism has been performed. Work also continues
towards developing suborbital space tourism vehicles. This is being done by aerospace
companies like Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic.
 Rocket and Space Corporation Energia, Space Adventures- Facilitated the flights for all
of the world's first private space explorers. The first three participants paid over $20
million (USD) each for their 10-day visit to the ISS. Russia halted orbital space tourism in
2010 due to the increase in the International Space Station crew size, using the seats for
expedition crews that would previously have been sold to paying spaceflight
participants.
14. Sport Tourism
 In 2018, I am one of the representatives of CEACAL for Bacsmeet, it is an event where
Athletes in the Bicol region go to Legazpi to compete- it is an example of sport tourism
because it is a trip which includes participating in sports or events.
 One of my dreams is to go to America to watch my favorite NBA games- it is considered
as sports tourism since the purpose of travel is to watch sports.
15. Archeological Tourism
 Tutankhamun’s tomb in Egypt- Arguably one of the most famous – and spectacular –
archaeological discoveries of all time, Howard Carter’s excavation at the Valley of the
Kings in 1922 propelled a short-lived and perhaps rather politically unimportant pharaoh
into the history books. Historical and best for wonderers, mostly historians visits the
place.
 Acropolis, Athens in Greece- Considered the symbol of Athens and Greece, and indeed
of Western civilization, the Acropolis is a rocky mound rising in the heart of modern
Athens, crowned by three magnificent temples dating from the 5th century BC. With
stunning view and classic design.
16. Culinary Tourism
 Chefs are known to travel around the world and try different kinds and types of foods to
create a new recipe and discover new dishes- it is an example of culinary tourism
because they travel to look for different kinds of recipes, the main purpose of travel is
for culinary.
  Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Texas- he school specializes in culinary and
pastry arts education, offering accredited diploma and degree programs for both
subjects. Famous Culinary school which many people want to attend.
17. Educational Tourism
 Mariners offers a field trip in Manila to discover popular hotels- It is an example of
educational tourism because after the trip they can receive a certificate and acquire the
necessary expertise.
 I am planning to go to Europe to continue my studies- An example of educational
tourism to obtain an educational graduation degree and to gain more experiences to
acquire new skills and knowledge.
