1.0 PURPOSE:
This method Statement describes the construction process to execute the Conduit Chasing as per approved
specifications in planned and systematic manner.
3.0 MATERIALS:
a) Cement (Approved Make)
b) Screened Sand (Approved Make)
c) GI Chicken Mesh
d) Water
4.0 EQUIPMENTS:
The equipment to be used for the application of the above products shall be in good working order
complying with the manufacturers recommendations.

5.0 RESPONSIBILITY
a) The Project Manager shall be responsible for all the activities of work execution.
b) The site engineer shall be the responsible to execute the work as per the approved method statement. Ensure
operatives are working in accordance with method statement.
c) The supervisor shall be responsible for managing site execution and control of labours, materials &
tools/tackles for the work.
d) The surveyor shall be responsible for the level, co-ordinate checking with respect to the drawing.
Work with site engineer to carry out the as- built survey/ top of concrete if any.
e) The QC engineer shall be responsible for ensuring the quality of work as per the Technical
specifications & Method statement. ITP implementation and ensuring the quality of work execution.
f) The safety officer shall be responsible to ensure the safety of workers during the progress of work.
6.0 PROCEDURE
a) Minimum 7 days air curing period to be ensured for AAC block masonry prior to start of conduit
chasing activity.
b) Location of conduit chasing to be marked on masonry wall. It shall be ensured that there should
not be Electrical points provided back to back, especially at common wall between two living
rooms
c) Chasing to be done with mechanical grinder to the required size.
d) Chisel and hammer to be used to cut the groove to the exact size.
e) Conduits to be laid through chasing and fixed in position using nails and GI binding wire. Nails
should be removed once electrical conduits are placed and supported by mortar to avoid rust
marks on surface in future.
f) Masonry surface upon which plaster to be applied is lightly moistured prior to commencement of
Plastering.
g) First coat of cement plaster (1:2 CM) to be applied up to the back surface of conduit.
h) GI Chicken Mesh to be fixed over conduit surface by cement plaster.

i) Second Coat of Cement Plaster (1:2 CM) to be applied over first coat and to be plain finished up
to masonry surface to enable proper bonding between chase filling and Cement Plaster.
j) GI chicken Mesh extending 50mm at both the ends of chasing to be fixed by cement paste over
plastered surface.
k) In case if cavity volume around electrical box is more, metal no.1 shall be used in mortar to
avoid mass volume of mortar around electrical box
l) Plastered surface to be cured for 3 days before application of surface plaster.

a) MEP Drawing.
b) Site log/Register/Checklist
9.0 SAFETY:
a) All supervisory staff in general and Safety supervisor / steward in particular should be
continuously monitoring the activity during operations.
b) Safety supervisor / steward should ensure that Hazard Identification & Risk Analysis (HIRA) is
followed for this particular process.
c) Construction Engineer should ensure that all staff and workers on site are wearing PPE.
d) Construction Engineer / Safety steward should report any incident immediately to Safety Officer
/ Engineer.
