COMPETENCY-BASED CURRICULUM

A. Course Design

Course Title : CARPENTRY


Nominal Duration : 301 hours
Qualification Level : NC II

Course Description : This course is designed to provide the learner with


the knowledge, practical skills and attitude, applicable
in
performing work activities involved in performing tasks
such
as layout reference lines, fabricate, install and remove
wooden formworks, install wooden door jamb, window
frame and panels, install wooden chairs, install
wooden
floors support and panels, fabricate and install roofing
system and fabricate and install wooden cabinet. This
includes classroom learning activities and practical
work in the actual work site or simulation area. Upon
completion of the course, the learners are expected to
demonstrate the above mentioned competencies to be
employed. To obtain this, all units prescribed for this
qualification must be achieved.

Trainee Entry Requirements:


● A holder of National Certificate Level I in Civil Works or
at least Junior High School Level Completer or an
Alternative Learning Systems (ALS) Certificate of
Completion with Grade 10 equivalent holder.
● Can communicate both orally and in writing
● Can perform basic mathematical computation and
mensuration

● Must have completed the 40-hour Construction Safety Training Course
(COSH) per Department Order No. 13 s. 1998, Guidelines Governing
Occupational Safety and Health in the Construction Industry conducted
OSHC and DOLE accredited Safety Training Organization
● Must have at least two years of industry experience in Civil Works and one
year of teaching experience in Carpentry
